I know how you feel hon-some customers are downright rude! Get my revenge by glaring at them and giving them change in 1p's and 2'ps.

Wouldn't work be great if...
...it wasn't for the clients!
I'm having such a bad day. Apart from being stupendously busy (why do they all leave things til a friday afternoon to book - i'm bored out of my brains for the rest of the week, i wouldn't mind if theyt spread it about a bit) i did lunch cover too (which means that you get to endure every one elses clients too) And I had this horrible horrible man who claimed that I was lying, being obstructive and didn't know how to do my job and he practically slammed the phone down on me. and i was only trying to help to make sure his ad went in the paper ok.
So him keeping on the phone meant that all the other calles backed up on my phone and I didn't have time to breath inbetween peoiple getting through so i'm all confused and can't remember who i've left messages for and who i haven't. I know for a fact i've sent the same message to about three different people by accident.
As it is this git is really pushing it to get the ad in seeing as he rang up an hour and a half after the booking deadline and he's got my name - you know that way that people ask your name then ask for your surname so that you know that they're gonna complain - so i'll probably get the blame for his imcompetance and rudeness
That probably made no sense to anybody but I really needed to have a rant and get that off my chest because i can just stand up in the middle of the office and scream (which is what I really want to do)
Anyway - the adverts won't book themselves on :seriously strained and harrassed smiley:

It ain't just customers honey... at the moment at work we've got some inspectors in from one of the Government departments; here for 9 working days, had to arrange 49 meetings for them within that time - hard enough, but now they're here they keep swapping over meetings so people expect to meet one person and meet the other, they decide they want to meet extra people and see people for longer, keep asking for extra information, and every day they need to be given their schedule with a blurb about who they're going to see and where they fit into the organisation, and I can't do them in advance because of the almost hourly changes to the schedule, maps to get around, I book taxis and then have to change bookings because they leave early or are running late... and because I co-ordinate the programme, I'm the one who has to keep emailing people to say "me again, sorry for the change of time / venue / participants AGAIN" so it's me that gets it in the neck....
Posting this from work, it's 6p.m. on Friday, I've been here since 8.15 this morning and didn't get a lunchbreak AGAIN and my boss has gone on leave in the middle of all this after saying that nobody was to take leave during the inspection ......
Okay, feel better now. Time for home, wine, takeaway and mindless TV methinks

Awww you poor people! Don't worry, be happy *hugs*. Think of those who are in exams. And think about how you never have to go through GCSE's again.

I have one of those lovely jobs where I don't have to deal with people 
Everyone else in my workplace has to work with the 'public', but I have mercifully been spared... I don't even have to deal with most of the other people who work with me

After spending 7 months of the year glued to a helpdesk, i have barely spoken to any clients for about 6 weeks. Making calls to them this week has come as an unpleasant shock, though worse to come in July when i will be sent out to install software and actually have to meet them in person. Scary stuff
And bizarrely, despite working on the phones for much longer than i care to remember, i still get really nervous when i have to phone them

Further correction: Wouldn't work be great if you got paid double the amount you're on now and worked from home, with no customer/managerial contact

Awww, you poor folks I spent 6 months working in a call centre years ago and realised I had to be in a career that didn't involve dealing with the public because 90% were idiots

Further further correction: wouldn't work be great if there were no work?
Only kidding, I love my job (because I'm one of the lucky few in my place that gets barely any contact with the punters as I'm doing a specific project behind the scenes and can't spend time doing other stuff...). However, on the first night of a three-day trip away this week, I called my husband and found out he'd been made redundant that day. He's been hit by the usual 'last in, first out' -um- rubbish, even though he's the only one who knows what he does and they're going to be -um- stuffed without him. His boss (thankfully) is hopping mad about it (it wasn't his idea by any stretch of the imagination!!) and is trying to get him reinstated, and has promised help finding other jobs and writing CV and fabulous references, but it's just soooo frustrating cos he'd finally found a job he loved and they do this to him. And I hardly ever go away (don't do separation very well ) so of course it would have to be the only time probably all year when I wasn't there to pick up the pieces and couldn't get there for three days. Back now and sorting things out, but boy did I feel awful. <sigh>
Rant over with (and sorry for hijacking the thread, I didn't mean to get all ranty, honest! )
