god what have i started? no des wasn't gonna marry jane he married daphne and then daphne died in a fire and he was a single parent. i always remember the best episode when des used blu tac to put his ears back coz they used to stick out
Posted: 13:07 Jun 20 2002 no, daphne died in a fire in the coffee shop i remember that well. and i think after daphne died he planned on marrying jane, coz he married daphne way way back at the beggining coz daphne got stuck in a lift with loads of rugby players on the day.

Viewers were shocked when the first major character was killed off. Daphne had been up visiting her sick father for the whole year. On the way back from the funeral after he died, the car that she was in with Jamie and Gail crashed. Jamie and Gail were okay, but Daphne went into a coma. Although Des remained sure that everything would end up okay, the rest of the Ramsay Street residents were worried and she eventually suffered cardiac arrest and died, leaving Des shattered.
