I would rather give birth than have toothache. When I was pregnant I had the worst toothache in 2 of my wisdom teeth. I couldn't have any medication for it so the mother-out-law suggested swilling it with brandy to numb it. It worked (or that might have been the couple of mouthfuls I necked too ) I was in that much pain I had to have them taken out the next day under local anesthetic. I love going to the dentist, but not that time.

ToothAche is the worst pain in the world , hope he is feeling better very soon , is it just me or do you find when you have it , all ya wanna do is rip the tooth out???

thank got i've not had bad tooth ache, my mum had a problem with her tooth for over a year and it was so bad she now admits she was very close to committing suicide if the pain didn't ease.

Well 2 trips to A&E made no difference so we managed to find an emergency dentist today and he had the offending tooth out (which I believe was flippin' painful), so no more toothache now thank goodness!

After having an emergency root canal ('cos I broke a tooth on a Pringle) I had on/off problems for about a year which have only just been resolved, and the only remotely positive thing about the entire experience was... lots and lots of codeine

Toothache!... yikes.. so far (touch wood), i've been okay on that score, but around about the time that Hannah was born, Ray had an abscess under one tooth that required a lot of work being done (and very expensive too).. and i remember that pain very easily as hubby is normally quite good with pain, but not on this occasion. I would prefer never to suffer any kind of pain if possible, but pain from a migraine, for me, is just about the worst there is. I recovered from my two c-sections really easily and needed little in the way of pain relief, but a migraine, coupled with the nausea, no thanks!.

I really hope he feels better soon !!! It must be really painful for him. Make sure you get him sorted out.

I'm another who would rather give birth, than have toothache, It's the worst pain in the world!!! Last time I had toothache, I locked myself in the bedroom, because i thought I wouldkill the next person, who spoke to me, and made me talk back and move my mouth.
Some woman gave me a brill bit of advice, she told me to get a bottle of Hydrogen peroxide??? I know, and gargle on it, and do you know it worked!!! Tastes of gone off soggy potatoes or something, but does work, so try it if you feel the pain coming, It does work

Toothache is probably worse than most things because it renders us incapable of eating and drinking most things. The last time I had toothache my dentist had screwed up a filling and I was in agony and the whole of your face feels sensitive for days

Hydrogen peroxide is a very strong oxidising agent, which will quickly kill bacteria exposed to it and also whiten teeth, so using it as a mouthwash is often suggested.

100% hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a mutagen - it will damage the DNA in cells, so quaffing that would be a bad idea. However, commercial H2O2 is only around 5% at most, so this isn't a problem. Also, H2O2 is very unstable and when exposed to mild heat (body temperature would suffice) will rapidly degrade into such hazardous compounds as H2O and O2; even if you swallow a little there'll be no problems as the acid in your stomach will help it degrade even quicker.

No nothing worse than toothache. Earlier this year I had an abcess. Go to dentist "does it hurt" he said. Duh! Hardly be there having made an emergency apointment if it didn't. He then proceeded to prod and poke around in my mouth and made it feel even worse so I left feeling in even MORE pain!!! God I hate dentists!!!!

Yep, that's what happened with Ray. I had really bad migraines when i was about 20 weeks along with Hannah.. every single day for a week.. and i couldn't take anything stronger than paracetemol for it, which of course did absolutely nothing... so far i've had only one migraine since then and she's sixteen and a half months old now
