have you tried cleaning? i get 100 quid a week part time and its well easy work i work for about an hour a night then read a book and go through private and confidential files for the other 3 hours.
Jobs blah
i've been searching for a part time job for about a month or so, and i've had no luck at all, i've applied to countless places and no-ones even had the decency to tell me i haven't got the job.
At least 3 of the places said they *definetly* wanted staff for the summer....and yet no luck, whats wrong with me!
and then theres the whole catch 22 situation of i've got no experience being only 17, but i can't get any because no-one will employ me!
the worst thing is a few of my friends walked straight into jobs with no hassle
anyone *any* advice ideas? agencies and what have you? i'm getting really down about it...

sign up with all the agencys. some of them will do courses with you and though you might only get a week or twos work at a time it will give you some really good experience.
There's nothing wrong with you at all. I would guess that unfortunately at this time of year as well as GCSE & Alevel students looking for summer work there's also the university students out to get extra cash.

I would imagine that those places are getting inundated with people wanting part-time stuff and probably haven't got the decency or the time to let those know that they haven't got the job.
As Sydney says definitely try the agencies, supermarkets are normally looking for odd shifts after school hours (when the mum's finish for the day) or you could try cleaning as Spike suggested (but don't go through the confidential stuff as it would only take getting caught once! we had cleaners take stuff from our offices and they changed all the cleaners I believe as they couldn't prove who had taken the things )
Cinemas, video places etc could all be looking for seasonal staff as parents strive to find their kids something to do this summer. I'm not sure where you are situated, but have you tried local hotels etc that maybe looking for waiting staff?
And whatever you find - good luck
And then there's always the dreaded "Burger Slinging" I worked at Burger king when I was 16 and McDonalds when I was 17. Its really not that bad at all and its a very easy job to do
