Well, my main thoughts on the appointment are 'what the heck has it got to do with the government?' Although it's somewhat irrelevant these days, it's long past time for the C of E to be disestablished. From his comments, it looks like he may have been well-picked for the job..
If public figures, and especially religious leaders, don't make such pronouncements, what is the point in them being there? That I happen to agree with what he said about both Iraq and Disney (is there even any doubt about the latter?) obviously helps.
Plus, bonus points for managing to annoy the Sun - who apparently aren't aware that there aren't any known links between Iraq and Bin Laden - obviously.
