congratulations! thought this thread was gonna be entirely different! *hugs*
I don't have a boyfriend anymore...
....because he's now my fiance!!!
Graham kept going on about a surprise all through our holiday, and on friday night left me to my own devices to go and sort it out.
He eventually led me over a hill to a secluded beach where he had laid out candles, spelling out "Marry Me?"
It was the most romantic thing ever, and I was taken aback, before, naturally, saying yes.
He presented me with the most beautiful ring, and we wandered back over the hill watching the sun set behind us (and then we celebrated in true alcoholic style )
Some of you already know this either by text from me or from Syd at Nos, but I had to share it with you and everyone else, because I'm the happiest kitty ever
Oh, and here's the ring

Thanks and huggles to everyone for your words (especially Fred ) and sorry for leading you on with the thread title
Haven't even begun to think about a wedding yet, it's barely sunk in that I'm engaged!!! I'm more interested in planning the engagement party first!!!, and yes you're all invited
My mum hasn't really said much about it yet, but my dad was over the moon, and my step-mum was in floods of tears, saying we'd made her year and she was so glad it was Graham (very touching)
I have to take the ring in tomorrow morning to be resized (which is gonna take a week ), but I don't even want to take it off.

I'll send him out and get Vin Diesel round for a cosy night
Gonna try for the 14th of September as that is free in the meets calendar if anyone here wants to come
Just gotta try and find a room, try and find my mate Pete to DJ, ask mum realllllllllllllllllly nicely if she would like to do the food, and find me a gorgeous dress and someone to do my hair (hint hint...)

Depends on how much you want to splash out really but Len and I married on £3,000 - which included everything - hotel, food, disco, dresses, suits, pressies, etc etc etc

As for a date, well it will be a couple of years off yet. I have no savings (at all), and will have to save up several grand in a few years...
You don't need lots of money to have a fancy do - just as long as you are both happy and the people that matter are there with you to share the day then it'll be the best day of your life
Wow! Huge congratulations and best wishes to both of you! Hope you have a wonderful future together. The ring is absolutely gorgeous, almost as beautiful as some of mine!

Talking about weddings, it's mine and Ray's 11th wedding anniversary this Saturday coming (10th). All in, i think ours cost about £2,500. My wedding dress belonged to my cousin and was my "something borrowed", it was a gorgeous dress with lots of pearls and beads and a long train, and in hindsight, a little bit too big for me, i often wished i had bought my own dress, but we didn't have a very big budget at the time. But we had a great day. My bridesmaids wore pinky coral coloured dresses and we started a new colour trend as before then everyone wore peach
My wedding ring is of rose gold and previously belonged to my nana. She died when i was 8 and i absolutely adored her. I was devastated when she died, but my mum said she and my grandad adored each other and had a very happy marriage, so for me, my ring has a very strong legacy. My dad made a poignant point during his speech that i'd chosen to be married with my nana's wedding ring on what would've been my grandma's birthday

Really dunno how much we'd spend. Being a bloke, I dont even see the point in owning the dress, but it seems to be a girly thing to want to keep it that i'll probably never understand. I'll leave that one up to Kelly.
Me + Kel love organising parties, so I reckon we can do the reception fairly cheap. For example, don't need to hire a band, cos our mates will be playing, my brother who is a photographer said he'd do wedding photos for us, etc.
Anyway, we'll cross that bridge when we get there, Kel has just got off the phone and has made a reservation for a room for our engagement party! So you all have to come now!
