cd writer trouble

ok we now have a cd writer and i can't get the damn thing to record. i've put all the mp3 tracks i want and it says all i need do is click on the record cd button. i pressed that but it says either the cables are not connected, the cd writer isn't on or you need to register the software online. well i registered the software online, and the cd writer is built in the machine and theres no cables or an on button, so anyone know what the trouble could be?

gobstopper Eventually, I'll think of something witty to put here ;-)

The cable the software is referring to is the one inside the PC which connects the CD writer to the appropriate interface on the PC's motherboard.

Either find someone who knows the insides of a PC or take it back to the place you bought it from and get them to check it.

cheers gobstopper. i tried it on another programme an dits working now i made my 1st cd. dunno why the other programme won't work though

In a State of Dan That's just, like, your opinion, man

Some software won't work with some CD writers. I've just installed Windows 2000 and been having all sorts of trouble getting my CD writer to work - downloading drivers, trying different software, finally got it going now though.
