I had a bad back last summer.. a muscle went into spasm and was so severe that i could hardly walk.. but a course of painkillers and a muscle relaxant cured that.

Migraine is horrible too.. I never went through the physical act of giving birth, but recovering from a c-section wasn't fun, but i got over it pretty quickly.

On the whole, not a big fan of pain

Yeah, you can usually find a way to deal with that, then you go and do something stupid that stirs it all up and you end up at square 1 again

OOooooooh yeah forgot that one Defintely the worst kind of pain there is in the entire universe!!!

The only emotional pain that isnt self inflicted is the loss of a family memeber or close friend. That sneaks up on you and kicks you into tomorrow! that is the hardest emotional pain to bare.

I'm going to go with the last time my hip bone dislocated and I failed in my usual method to force it back into the socket - decided maybe I should bite the bullet and go to the local hospital...unfortunately they were clueless as they didn't have my notes etc. Luckily that hasn't happened for quite a few years since they bodged it back into position with surgery.

Although back pain has to be one of the worst ongoers as I have 2 wearing sections picked up by the wonderful world of mri technology.

Has anyone every been in one of those?? I loved it as it was very relaxing but my when my mum had hers she said it was like being inside a washing machine

Other than that migraines are a killer for me - only way to cure those it to sleep and sleep and sleep

sunstroke was utter pain! stupid me goes away, i'm naturally fair skinned with strawberry blonde hair i shouldv'e known better, but no, i think i'll just get a birruva tan on the first day without sun cream to get me started....3 hours later i've got sunstroke.
sooo much pain, was stuck inside for the next 3 days and even then the pain was unbearable, i was shivering, but i felt so hot, and lying down and sleeping was awful
that'll teach me to think i can go without sunscreen

Period CRAMPS!!! GOD!!!! They are so terrible, girls in my family get them bad. We all are incredibly sick. I took 800mg of Ibuprofen and the pain still didn't go away! I also get terrible back ache with period pains.

Also I have long nails and a netball bounced off my longest nail and split it, it bled for hours and the pain was excrutiating... funny thing was we had been tortured by made to play netball in the freezing cold, so my mates had made me fake an injury about 2 mins before my nail accident. Also tooth ache and back ache are pretty high on the pain list too.

I had very bad toothache recently, and I drank about 14 cans of beer to try and null the pain..which worked somewhat, and they the pain came back in the night.

When I ended up seeing an emegency dentist, the guy numbed my gums with the injection thingy, twice, and then proceeded to yank the tooth. Kelly and the dentist assured me it didnt hurt.

Then he started to pull...hmm that's funny, it does hurt, but never mind not so bad. Hang on...ouch, yes that really does hurt now, quite a LOT. Ouuuuuuuuuchhh - ok, now i'm at amount the most pain I can tolerate, but heh it can't get worse than this???

Bzzzzzzttt! Wrong!

Just when I thought I couldn't handled it anymore, the tooth went through its final phase of coming out (probably the root snapping), and the pain exploded - it made the previous pain pale in comparison. Thankfully that lasted about one second, and even then I nearly passed out. I went white as the sheet, and the nurse told me I should lie down when I tried to get up.

So that was easily, the most painfull second in my life by a long, long way!

(Oh yeah, and I screamed like a girl!!!)

Every bitten down on something when you know you're about to suffer pain? I've busted two keyrings that way.

First time, I was in a club (sober!) and running to dance to 'Stupid Girl' by Garbage (how apt...) I slipped on a dodgy bit of carpeting, my foot went sideways and my ankle gave me HUGE amounts of pain. Needless to say I screamed like Cordelia. I was taken back to my seat, and the guy I was with said he wanted to take my boot off to have a look at the damage. I was wearing tight fitting cowboy boots, and we knew my foot and ankle were starting to swell, so get the boot off now before it needs to be cut off! I decided I wanted to appear more brave and didn't want to scream the club down twice in the same night, so I decided to bite down on my keyring. It was one of those cute plastic ones with your family's coat of arms in? It *was*. I bit clean through it. I was spitting bits of plastic out as the guy carried me out of the club. Nice...

Second time, I'd been in an accident on the bike. Some delightful woman pulled out of a junction without looking. I stood o the back brake, pulled the front brake and clutch in to the bars, and trapped the little finger on my left hand behind the clutch lever. Which is where it tried to stay when the bike ploughed into Delightful Woman's wing, and I went over the bonnet. So I was trundled off to the local A&E, and when they examined the finger, it had been ripped open at the base of the finger, as though somone had tried to pull it off sideways. Nothing really hurt just yet - I was very concussed and really out of it. Until the doctor decided he needed to put a couple of stitches in to fix my finger, but first he had to numb the area around it. So he injected anaesthetic into the exposed muscle at the bottom of my finger. He warned me that the injection would hurt a bit, and as I had no keyring of my own with me (see previous story) I asked the then other half if I could bite down on his. He had this nice metal 'Metallica' bottle opener keyring. He now has this nice metal 'Metallica' bottle opener keyring with my teeth-marks in it. And it doesn't open bottles very well any more.

Don't bite keyrings, it's bad for them.

I get back pain from time to time, from an accident at work back in February, and that sucks big time and keeps me awake

(I would claim for it, but that's a whole other topic of annoyance)

I trapped my sciatic (sp?) nerve once too, and that was hell, I couldn't put my foot on the floor without pain shooting all the way up my leg and into my back (so I got to go and work on the checkouts for a while)

Most recent pains include a bad chest pain that comes on for noe reason and grounds me (usually at work, though luckily when no one is around to think I'm dying!) and I get pain below my belly, on the left hand side, just at the middle of the top of my leg (now it would be so much easier if I could just point at it for ya!!). That's a throbbing pain and seriously narks me off.

One pain I certainly don't miss is period pain. I used to get it bad and pain killers strong enough to treat my step dad's slipped disks didn't ease it

I've nevr had bad toothache, so I don't know how you're felling but I felt for Graham when he had it and I feel for you too, hope it gets better soon *hugs*

One I forgot - having a stitch put into your tongue.

I had a lump taken off mine once and the doc wanted to put a stitch in to patch it up... did it under the local anaesthetic he'd used to take the lump off, so that was fine. But by the time I got home the stitch had burst so I went back to have it re-done (SPIKE: this was the Lister Hospital). The doc said there was no point in giving me anything to numb my tongue, as that would involve a needle and the stitch would involve a needle, so why bother? Might as well just have the stitch. Seemed a fair point, so I agreed.

Was that a bad decision or what? I forgot that when you're given an injection, they don't thread the needle through and out the other side with what feels like a ruddy great mooring rope for an aircraft carrier on the end.

Back pain, definitely. I suffer from sciatica a lot, but can usually muddle along with painkillers. But from time to time I have a flare-up when I am in absolutely AGONY. When I'm like that, I can't walk, sit, stand or lie down without being in constant, un-remitting agony. Walking across my room can take up to 15 mins, that's how bad it is. I have actually passed out from the pain before, and during a particularly long bad spell I've actually considered "doing something" just so I wouldn't be in pain anymore, it was that bad. If you've never had severe back pain, consider yourself very, very lucky.

Toothache is definitely a close second, but at least you can still move around and do most of the things you would normally be able to do!

I'm quite lucky in being I'm relatively healthy so don't feel much pain.

The sorest thing I ever had was when I was in a car crash years ago - the dashboard went through my knee right to the bone. OUCH. They had to knock me out to sew my cartilage etc back together.

Either that or migranes brought on by smoking JPS and drinking snakebite. Not a good combo.
