Depending on when/where it is, I will lend my support.

As far as jumping is concerned. I watched my brother happily throw himself out of perfectly serviceable aircraft for a number of years, and not once did I feel inclined to join him.

The videos are great though!

It's not as bad as you think (except for T, but she's just a big wuss )
It's *not* anything like the big drop on a roller coaster or *anything* even near it, all you feel is the air pressure
Desire was a nervous wreck beforehand, but as soon as she did it she wanted to go again, in fact I think most of us did

Which drop zone would this be at? I did 7 jumps over the course of a Summer several years back (consequence of an attractive woman asking me over dinner...) and have occasionally thought it might be a fun thing to do again.

You will *never* get me jumping out of a plane (I'm not that silly ) but Len says if he isn't working then he'll be up for it

You're strapped to an instructor, so when he jumps, you jump

The place I went to (London Parachute School) was run by a bunch of incredibly foul-mouthed ex-Paras (any quote would *so* violate the language guidelines here) but their training was very thorough - when the jumpmaster called "Feet out! Go!", you pushed yourself out almost as a reflex (we started off in rather small Cessnas with the seats stripped out and the door taken off!).

The LPS guys didn't push people out but if you were a refusal, you'd have to pay for the people behind you in the aircraft (in the Cessnas anyway, there was no way to get people behind you past you and out the door).

Both seemed pretty effective. I only recall two refusals in all the time I was at LPS.

Oh, tangential brush with fame - once jumped out of the same Antonov AN-2 as Lewis Collins! The poseur had a guy with him with a helmet-mounted camera who had to exit before him backwards so he could get a photo of LC as he exited the plane!

Oh! So we're talking about tandem jumps then? Sorry, I automatically assumed this was for static line jumps.

Hmmm... never done a tandem - what height do you exit at and what height do you deploy? ISTR tandem involves a period of freefall, is that right? If so, this could be very interesting - the 4 seconds before a static line 'chute deploys just isn't very long at all and I don't have the inclination to put the time, effort and cash into progressing to freefall the hard way...

£205 for a weekend jump or £270 if you have a video and piccies too

Abseiling off of bridges is kinda fun, but this sounds a whole lot better
