Well, i don't remember much cause i was half asleep.

I think i heard something and it sounded like my brother going downstairs and i didn't know what time it was (he had to get up early to go to work) so i figured it was him.

But then, when i woke up my mum told me my bro had woken up about 15min before me, so it was really unlikely that it had been him.

So, it was either the earthquake or my brother going down the stairs

Well I never felt a thing. I was awake and stuff, but never felt or heard anything. I assumed Spike was just insane when he told me, but it seems I was wrong. Well, on this occasion.

i live in brum, so was quite close. i was awake and felt it go right through the house. it was really weird. i was sitting in bed reading (unfortunately i was at a really spooky point in 'interview with the vampire' which meant it all seemed even more freaky), and i had my back to where it was coming from. at first there was this big roaring sound which i could hear coming towards the front of the house, then the whole house started to shake. my bed started going from side to side and one of my ornaments (terrible word - makes it sound like i have china figurines in my room) fell over. then it passed through the house and i could hear it going away from the back of the house into the distance. it was so weird that i could just imagine the rippling of the ground from the shock passing underneath the house. it took me a while to get back to sleep again! i assumed it was an earthquake, but i did put news24 on for a couple of minutes, just to make sure it wasn't the shock from a really huge bomb or from an enormous earthquake in another country or anything terrible like that.
it's been all the local news can talk about, and all the damage that was done was that someone's chimney half fell over! i definately wouldn't want to live somewhere that got proper earthquakes, though!

well, i assume it woke me up, coz i woke up around that time but i was half asleep and i thoguht someone was robbing the house coz there was noise, but that didn't really phase me and i rolled over and went back to sleep!!! heh

Didn't feel it here (Suffolk), I was up reading at the time, didn't feel anything at all..

I thought this, but I found out last night that apparently there are loads of fault lines criss crossing under the UK, and tremours are not that unusual. What was unusual last night was how far the effects were felt, especially when the quake was so weak it barely caused any damage.

Well the earth didn't move for me in Cambridge last night.....

Well it bloody well moved 20 mile up the road!!!

We were just getting ready to go to bed and the whole of the lounge shook like a car had run into the side of it (we even looked outside expecting a car to be embedded in the side of the building)

The cat freaked, we freaked as the cabinets rocked - it was really odd. We wondered if the upstairs neighbours had blown something up or had mindblowing activities, but nope, when I got to work today I was told there had been an earthquake.

If there's ever anything like that again I don't hold up any hope for these flats as the place felt really unstable

I have to say I considered it being an earthquake and then totally dismissed it... "naa it can't have been, we don't get them here..." type thing.

I slept right through it Then again, we were in a 16th century building and it takes a lot to make that shake!

DAMN! missed it! last one i was pesent at was in Italy but i slept right through it while other occupants fled the building, my mum didnt realise what it was instead she just came in to check on me as she thought it was me falling out of bed! cheers mum.
