You'll be fine, honest. The great thing about starting Uni is that everyone is in the same boat, as you are all new, so everyone will be trying to get to know people which makes it easier. Even if you are unsure of starting a conversation, lots of people will come up and start one with you.
I was feeling shy when i started Uni (many years ago now ) so i just started out talking to the people on my floor in halls. You then get to meet other people through them and soon you know loads of people.
Bonding with random people next to you in lectures over the quality or otherwise of the lecturer also worked pretty well as i recall... this may say more about some of the lecturers at Swansea though
