Downloading Episodes...
I dont really wanna wait for season seven of buffy to come out over here as by then spoilers and temptation would've ruined it for me (and a few of my friends) also I dont wanna be invading ELC family room to watch it (also methinks ill be working those nights) so I was wondering does anyone know the site url where i can download past (and if possible present) episodes?
I think Vampire Tigger knows it as he's had other episodes in his possesion but i feel i dont know him well enough to be cheeky and ask him (also i dont know how to contact him anyway)
So does anyone know where i could find them? Please? Anyone? I'll buy you a drink at October Nos if you're going.

The most timely source of new Buffy and Angel episodes is Usenet, in alt.binaries.multimedia.buffy-v-slayer. It's highly advisable to have a broadband Internet connection (ie ADSL or cable) - a VideoCD standard episode will be about 450Mb in size although episodes will be typically be posted at a variety of quality levels, including ones for people on dial-up. A good news reader client like Agent/Free Agent is also recommended.
Alternatively, episodes will also show up on Kazaa and other peer-to-peer file sharing networks.

You're welcome. Hope it helps.

Cheers Ming you coming to nos btw?
Alas, I am unlikely to be attending any Nos nights for a few while as I have been assigned to a 7-week project in Indonesia, current departure date next Saturday...
And I'm hoping for a postcard while you're there and an exotic pressie when you get back

I intend to give it a damned good try. It is rather interfering with my con plans for October though. On current track, it means I'll miss most of South and all of SG-5. That said, we've already had two delays to the start date so I might make the whole of South yet...

oh, well, CHEERS! and have an excelllent time (even if it IS work)
It's worth bearing in mind that many ISP's newsfeeds are quite sucky, and so expire, or otherwise loose, posts with deplorable alacrity -- so you may need to get your newsfeeds from two (or perhaps more) sources in order to avoid ending up with 43 out of 45 parts of an episode. Also be aware of alt.binaries.multimedia.buffy-v-slayer.repost -- another important source of missing parts.

And be prepared to use up a *LOT* of disk space, especially once you start getting eps in multiple formats! It's a scary hobby, but cheaper than moving to California and buyig a big-ugly-dish to watch the wildfeeds
Yes, good point. Another thing to invesigate and possibly invest in is a premium service newsfeed from the likes of Clara, Newsguy and so on. Price will be about US$20 a month but they will typically carry a much larger selection of newsgroups than a standard ISP newsfeed and retain messages for longer, especially the big binary newgroups like the Buffy ones.
Usenet is a very big and occasionally scarily weird place. On searching a newsgroup list for Cthulhu groups, I found one entitled alt.sex.cthulhu! Definitely falls into the category of Things Man Was Not Meant To Know...

Actually, for 10GB of downloads a month, Clara is only £30 a year. Everything seems to appear, and retention is a few days. Well worth the money.
