It just all seems so unlikely. We expect these things from people like Jeffrey Archer or Alan Clark, but John Major??

And why has Edwina Curry decided to tell about it now? Obviously, it's going to sell her a lot of books, but it all seems a bit odd.

I don't think the timing has any special significance as far as the incident itself is concerned. It just so happens that this is the time she's chosen to release her book.

The question should be 'Why has Edwina decided to tell about it at all?'

That, as far as I'm concerned is simply down to money. Had a few 'juicy' bits not been serialised in one of the 'quality' tabloids then I doubt many people would even know that the book existed, let alone be flocking to buy it (which they no doubt will be now )

Yes, it's kinda funny, the irony of this being the man behind Back To Basics. And yes, it's disgusting, in an ewww! rather than moral way. Affairs happen. No business of anyone except the parties involved. But someone kept shoving a copy of the Sun under my nose at work yesterday, with the headline - 'Major was an esy lay, says Currie' - which is sooooooooooo wrong, on so many levels. As I commented at the time, it's like hearing your grandparents talking about sex - it just shouldn't happen!

But that this might detract from a travesty of a Labour conference, with Blair already being given the go ahead for unilateral action against Iraq, and the privatisation of health and education to come, that's more than worrying. All of a sudden the debacle doesn't seem quite so funny anymore...

I see you EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW and raise you and EUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Personally I think the Press need some new material if they have to drag up stuff from 14 years ago

think about it if the new of his affair had come out before the election he would'nt have won and whoever was running at the time would've and things couldve been so different now i dont know who was running against him at the time but you have to admit things wouldve been different today, a whole different path wouldve runs its course. (yes two different phrases used in one line but you might get what i mean)

Last Friday night, I went out on the office payday booze-up, had a few pints, had a pizza and went to bed.

Last Saturday I popped into the paper shop on my way to catch the bus into Leeds, saw the headline and thought, "What the hell was I drinking last night?!!". The two people in the world who should count themselves lucky to have found one person who'd marry them, never mind another one to sleep with them. But I think it's important to remember that at the time, nobody could really have foreseen that Major would have risen as far as he had, and the Tories' grip on power during his leadership was never exactly strong so if Eggwina had made the affair public at the time, it would probably have destroyed her career there and then.

The tories' "reputation" is taking quite a lot of flak at the moment, no?

What with John & Edwina (Sounds can be of mass vomiting can be heard, several times! ) and the tories' new name for Iain Duncan Smith (the one on the front of the Mirror that I can't repeat here ), it just gives me yet another reason to say "Ha!" to the Conservative Party.

Well it's not as if they had much of a good reputation to begin with, Hey you know how the online section of the guardian has a printout of a random political chatroom? I think we should ask if they can use T21 so that we can all just slag off the Tories
