Themed chat nights. Everyone please read (and post)
Hi guys, we’re thinking of running some themed chat nights, specifically to do with either TV shows, comics, books, or films and we would like YOUR input as to what we should theme the first one around. Hopefully we can get all the folks who are into the same thing into the chatroom at the same time for a great, meaty discussion. We promise to give you plenty of warning this time
Maybe you want to talk about the upcoming series of Buffy, or Angel, or maybe you can’t wait till 2005 and Star Wars episode 3, or maybe the new X-men film is the thing you're waiting for. Whatever your favourite on-topic topic is, post it up here for all to see. We’ll narrow it down to a few and make a decision on the next one to go ahead.

If I have anything to do with it, yes! Well that's what most of my life involves anyway! In fact, how about a theme night where you can only talk in film and TV quotes?
by White Hart
I'd be up for Monty Python! Wouldn't it just turn into a quotefest though?
"Obi-Wan has taught you well!"
/me waits for Demona to spot this thread!
OI!!!!

But you will still have the main chat where we can discuss boobies, knickers, KTs sex life and such like won't you?
and um, yeah talk about what ya like, i'll just sing to myself and talk about trees and frogs, but never tree frogs

Although my comments usually consist of things like:
"Wow <insert character> is way cool"
or
"Cool hardsuit!"
and stuff
But I'd be up for that if you wouldn't mind education me a little
"HeÂ’s not pining'! HeÂ’s passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! HeÂ’s expired and gone to meet 'is maker! HeÂ’s a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'him to the perch he'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'history! HeÂ’s off the twig! HeÂ’s kicked the bucket, he's shuffled off his mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleeding' choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!"
I think Star Trek would be a good topic to discuss
Grail scum!

OK, I'd like to put in another vote for Monty Python. So that us Grailites can line up against those scummy Brianists and boil their bottoms .... wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiith ...... A HERRING!!!!
Oh, and I reckon The Prisoner might make an interesting topic of conversation.
We must join together to fight our common enemy!
Certainly would esp with the new film due out in December

Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system. Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help, help, I'm being oppressed!

There's only one appropriate response to that, and I don't think I can post it..

It's clear that us Grailites will win though, it has all the best insults.
I think theme nights would be fun.
I agree with the whole monty python idea but what about Black Adder as well, lots of room for quotes there...
Who's queen?

This can be the part where I prepare for stoning by stating I've never watched a complete Monty Python film or Blackadder episode
Me either
Topics:
Star Wars: Episode III -
That should keep a conversation going for a while

Topics:
Star Wars: Episode III -
What will it be called?
Who will die?
Who will kill the ones that die?
Is Darth Sidious, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine?
Is Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, Darth Sidious?
Is Mace Windu a punk?
Will we see Imperial Star Destroyers, Stormtroopers and other paraphernalia commonly associated with the Galactic Empire?
At what point during the film will Anakin Skywalker definitively become Darth Vader?
How many minutes on screen/lines will Darth Vader have in the suit?
Will Bad-Ass Master Yoda fight again?
That should keep a conversation going for a while

Sounds like a really good idea, would probably tempt me into chat also, I always forget to go there. I definatly like the Monty Python idea, does that mean you can just go in and book an arguement Quotefest, Yep, I'm up for that. Other ideas, music is always agood chat theme, so many different styles, e.t.c. and celeb gossip, one of my favs. Keep us posted!
Gotta say I'm exactly the same. Granted I'm pretty quiet at the mo when it comes to chat. But between not watching MP, Blackadder or many of the 'cult' classics, I'm fairly not on the know. Same really goes for Star Wars/Trek as it was never my thing.

Majority of the time I've talked about music etc, thats about as close as it gets. Sorry I can't put a bit more input into it but I've often seen myself just turn off (as described above) when topics such as religion, politics or anything 'deep and meaningful' crops up...
Same here. I don't do serious discussion, life's too short.
