Solved - the "mystery" painting I saw!
For those who were trying to help me identify that painting I liked, I've got the answer - personally from Jackie Llewelyn-Bowen (Laurence's wife) no less!!
I wrote to Laurence's manager, not really expecting a reply. The very next morning, I got a phone call from Jackie L-B herself!! She was really, really nice and we had a bit of a chat about art etc. The painting was in their daughter's living room, and it turns out though, after all that, that the painting was Waterhouse's "The Lady of Shallot" after all
. I could have sworn it was different, and I know Spike and a couple of others thought they knew a different version. Oh well, the mystery is solved at last (thank goodness as it was driving me bonkers). What a very nice lady she is!
