According to the paper today the BBC are hoping to sign Anne Robinson on as the full-time host. I really hope this is not true...
Have they got news for Deayton?
LOL. Had to have a little laugh to myself that ol' AD has now been shown the door after the latest revelations about his private life. Seems the show had just become an excuse for Ian Hislop and Paul Merton to tear into him.
Still, it's hard to feel sorry for him seeing as he used every opportunity to rip into the guests each week and make sneery and sarcastic remarks and put downs about them. Nice to see him squirm as he got a taste of his own medicine.
Anyway, that's my opinion. What do you think? Do you think the BBC were right to sack him?

I heard Johnny Vaughn was lined up to do it, Full time
He was ok, but I thought he was very flat as he's normally very witty when unrestricted by autocue.

Apparently the studio audience were quite impressed with Paul Merton as host:
Actually I'm intrigued to see Anne Robinson try it, but if Johnny Vaughan does it full time I won't be watching anymore
Yes, I think I prefer him adlibbing. He also obviously isn't used to using an autocue so he came across as quite stilted.

What I'd like to see is this series finished with 'guest' presenters, then they could see who would be best. I don't think it would work with someone like Johnny Vaughan (though I could be wrong), but I think it has to be someone who's associated with current affairs really.
(Although it strikes me as I write this that Johnny Vaughan might be fo all I know )
I was thinking just how to express my opinion on this when along comes Random and does it for me... well done that man.

The thing is, if you work in news in any capacity whatsoever your ability to do your job is destroyed if you become news yourself.
But yeah I agree, The aim of the show (as far as I can make out as I can't say I've watched it all that many times) is to 'take the mick' out of the guests? Not for the guests to 'take the mick' out of the presenter.
Also, there may have been something in his contract to do with extra-curricular activities that we're unaware of.
So I agree it was right that they should let him go, if only to save a tiny bit of his dignity.
