ITC attempts to ban ALL paranormal shows!

This post below is taken from Colin Fry's forum and was posted by someone who attended his show (last night I believe):

"Dear All,
Colin brought up a topic which I wasn't aware of tonight, did you know the ITC are trying to get all the 'spiritual' programs from British TV banned!? So if they get their way then we will not see: 6th sense, John Edward, Street Psychic, Scream Team on UK tv again!!

They believe we may be too vulnerable! They think talking to the dead is a harmful practice! I think the programs are spot on and how are they misleading, duh Sixth Sense!! Well this obviously means it's a program about Pig Farming!! Are they serious??
I'm sorry but what a load of crap!
I have seen their commercials for years now saying they are here to protect us.
Sorry!! Still see crappy misleading adverts all day long, now livingTV are brave enough to go out on a limb and screen this with great success! Actually helping millions of viewers! Giving them a sense of relief and closesure! This some how is a bad thing? I'm sorry that has to be the most laughable thing I have heard all year.

So small minded ITC need to know how much this means to us, the common public.
We have been asked to write to Living and tell them what we think and can I please, please, please, encourage everyone to do this.
Luckily I have always felt 'connected' not that I get messages, as I don't directly but I certainly 'feel'. These 'programs' which I call a gift of god, have reached so many and helped! So can we all write to these small minded idiots and tell them what the public really thinks?

Colin even said because of this they may NOT make another series!!!!!

I personally adore any kind of show that'll investigate paranormal stuff and like watching shows with psychics and wouldnt be very happy if they managed to ban all like shows. I know there are quite a few fans of these shows too and I will be writing to complain (and i dont write complaint often.)

Don't think they should ban them. We as the general public can find out whats on tv, and its OUR choice whether to watch them. ITC needs a kick up the backside

Funnily enough my friend's dad works the ITC.

Does this mean they'll try to ban any paranormal shows on any BBC channels?

'Cos they can't actually do this, 'cos the Beeb's license fee remit (the rules that let them charge the license fee) states that they *must* cater to all audiences and tastes...

Ok, so they don't do that anyway (no BBC rock radio station, is there?) but paranormal shows are starting to enter the mainstream, so there'd probably be quite a few complaints...

I'm guessing it's a reference to this report, although it seems to be a year old and not particularly negative as far as I could tell from a quick glance

Just want to say please at any point dont attack me for posting this I just posted what was said on another site and thought some might be interested.
I admit there was no link or arguement/defence on ITC's side of things I just know there would be a few people who might wanna know this in case it IS true.
(also why would colin fry (or any tv person) want to attack ITC if they didnt think there was some truth in it)

Actually living tv and most cable channels actually have a habit of showing really old shows if this is the case I apologise.

this reminded me of what my friend told me recently. she was at Witchfest, a conference for pagans. she was told by an author that the ITC has an old law(1951)that states that Witchcraft should not be promoted in its real sense on tv,it can be promoted as fiction though. this law has never been revoked and only now are they bringing back and actively trying to stop any documentaries on witchcraft from being shown.
i dont know if this links to any laws they have on paranormal things in general. but if it is i'm definatly writing to find out, as if it is then it is censorship.
Ive always been interested in the paranormal. Witchcraft has for years had bad press because of bad publicity and misinformation. denying its right to redress the balance is censorship. deying people the write to learn about paranormal is censorship. the ITC isnt protecting anyone.
As had been said all these programs are on late, after 9pm and if someone doesnt want to watch then they can turn over. the ITC should concentrate on making adverts less misleading
