This has always been a funny quota even to me. I have previously seen adverts or application forms that say "disabled people *will* be guaranteed an interview" .. yes sir, it doesn't matter whether you are qualified, but we have to fill our quota. Don't get me wrong, but I'd like to get a job on merit - not cause I just need any deskjob!

No quotas required by law for the colour of the skin of members of parliament. The only quota that exists is that 10% of employees should be disabled. This was introduced after the war as a way of ensuring that ex-soldiers wounded in the war would be able to find employment. However, this law has never been enforced and is not the case in the vast majority of work places.
Sorry, I can't remember which constabulary it was within east anglia that put out a cry for ethic officers on tv once. But the reasoning behind it was they wanted to recruit Asian officers for an area that was mainly Asian to improve communications.
by JayjayThe Police Force is one such case, with overwhelming statistics to back this up. The Police Force have suggested themselves that one cause of this is that it has a disproportionately low level of members from other races, when compared with the demographics of this country. Therefore a number of actions have been initiated to encourage other races to apply. However, they still have to go through the same selection method as any white applicant.
This may very well be the case. But in my opinion its a poor excuse for just picking another party at random to vote for without putting proper thought in. Worst case scenario would end up with a majority in and everyone kicking themselves for voting on a whim.

It may also be true that people are sick of the party in power at the moment and voting BNP is more of a protest vote.
I've read through the last few posts but they all seem ok to me, perhaps you have misread. I can however see why Dan is curious about your following post:

you seem to always be snide and underhand with comments towards me. I could of course be mistaken
You say "we" is a generalisation. When I read threads I pay more attention to the "I" postings or the "I read this here .." postings. Speaking in the first person just seems to ring more true in debating posts.
