Avril Lavaigne
Have just heard on the radio that Avril Lacaigne will be signing her new album at Virgin Megastore (Oxford Street) today. Didn't catch the time. I doubt it will be for long though as shes playing the astoria tonight.

Yeah sure Spike
*sob* I was gonna see her at the Astoria. *sob* I wish I could have. Just for the night out at least. Tis not fair I could have seen her at the Astoria if I did take the opportunity to go with a mate. But I had mocks this week. But I didn't have my exam time table at the time and I thought I'd have exams all afternoon so I couldn't get there. But NOOOOO I finished at 1!
/me goes off growling

Spike, she might spit in your face (not in a kissing way!), 'cause apparently she does that to people, especially interviewers
Damn, why can't anyone see that she can't actually sing live? Oh and she rhymes boy with boy (or is that boi?)....
At least it rhymes
And thanks to Koala for the album - toldya Skater Boy was good, it's the latest single lol

am i the only one who see's how vile she is?!
'i'm not one of those blonde cheerleader type girls' is what she said
er excuse me avril, but did i or did i not read a interview with you in which you said you *were* a cheerleader in high school
maybe if she didn't try so hard to be something she's not she'd have more appeal?
and that 'sk8er boi' song is jsut plain cruel and ridiculous!
*wanders off muttering*

Did you get to see her then SPIKE I saw what their signing were like when i worked there their handling of crowds are terrible and people usually start lineing up when the store open it would be SO funny if hardly anyone turned up LOL
Yup, both me and Spike got to meet her and the queue was massive although they only gave her an hour to sign. And now my album cover has her and her band's autos on it

We then managed to pop over to the Astoria and got to the front where we got battered and bruised but had a fantastic time. Avril rocked and she *can* sing live, despite what some people might say.
Oh, and the cover of System Of A Down's 'Chop Suey' at the end rocked. Good one, Avril

im glad it turned out good whistler i seen those signings and the let downs caused in the past from their lack of co-ordination and communication within the staff handling such "gigs". hope you weren't lining up too long and glad you had a great night.
on another note we had Marilyn Manson play there once and the stupid manager thought it would be so funny and clever of him to call him by his REAL name - cant remember it now - MM was SO not amused (i thought it a bit disrepectful for the manager to do so.)

hes not the guy with a tash is he? he was a prat. anyway why are you loyt slagging her off, i know on the totp performance she didn't sing too well thatw as due to her being very ill, not wanting to mime to dissapoint her fans so she played and sang live even though she wasn't well, if you'd seen her last night she was bloody amazing. It was one of the best gigs i've been to in a long while. Unfortunately i couldn't chat he rup as when she signed things we were rushed straight on, plus i was scared to say anything except for thanx. Also you should have seen some of the birds there they were well fit, specially this one near me and whistler i'll look out for her in march when avril plays again.

A friend of mine met her and said that she was really sweet.
Not sure what to make of her, I think its all the hype thats surrounding her thats putting me off. And that sk8r boi song encouraging 'kewl' talk! (Note: Not the song itself but the spelling of the word)

I'm sorry, I don't mean to slag her off, I just really don't like her. Of course, it's all a matter of taste, and it's up to you if you like her. But I just can't stand the way she pretends to be more than pop because she really isn't. She's pretty much cashing in on the whole 'it's cool to be alternative' thing without being too threatening and is really easy to look at as well (hey! she is insanely pretty!) so she appeals to kids who want to be cool and alternative, but don't really like the hardcore stuff. And I really don't like the way that she implies that being conventional is always wrong and that all people who follow fashion and are 'preppy' look down on those who don't, when she's the one being prejudice. I don't like the implication that preppy girls will end up as baby machines and I don't like the way she pretends to not conform when she couldn't be anymore normal. She's got popular by being safe.
You've got to hand it to her though, she acheived worldwide success when she was only 17. Britney was 16....

ok yally i see what you mean about saynig about preppies and stuff. if you do listen to her album though she has a wide range of stuff on there which isn't soft punk, its more jsut soft rock, and the main thing is her music and voice, jsut cuz you don't like the way she comes across is no reason to dislike her music. For example i think Max Bygraves is a total idiot yet i still love the toothbrush song
Yeah, you're right Spike, it really should just be about the music.

well quite frankly, i'm outraged she dared to cover chjop suey....

my hatred for the poor girl grows all the time silly i know, but alas i can't help it when she's in my face all the time
saying that, 'sk8er boi' grows on me..but...she doesn't heh
'Boi', when you have it in for someone you have it in for them, dontcha?

And you know what I find helps when something is 'in my face all the time'? Changing the TV/radio station
From a purely male perspective I'd like to say that she is something rare: someone incredibly good looking who makes good music, don't ask me why it's just that I'm not attracted to Slash
As a member of a distinctly alternative group I'd just like to defend the girl - firstly she may have been a cheerleader at one point be she certainly isn't now, I can tell when people are trying to be alternative.

So in that case why do I like her?

It is, but mainly from the fact that it is 'normal' to be a townie/scally. Don't get me wrong I've known loads of people who wear trackies and listen to dance music but I wouldn' define them as townies. A townie is someone who looks down on anyone who is different (although there are plenty of goths like that) They've been having a go at alternative people for years, is it any wonder we want revenge?

ummm, her producers may be but she probably isn't, if someone told you you could be a rock star (notice the word rock) would you say no? I think not.
