Sorry Halo, but I saw the 'United States of Whatever' for the first time on Kerrang (or MTV2, I forget) for the first time yesterday and thought it rocked! Not sure how it would work without the video, but I thought it was quite clever and pretty darn cool.
And The Streets - gotta stand up for The Streets! I love there stuff and was sorely tempted to see them at the Reading festival. However, ended up seeing Offspring instead. I think. Things were a bit hazy that day...
And Monster - I used to be able to play bar chords, and even managed a passing version of Smells Like Teen Spirit.
OK, so no, not a guitar vertioso here. But I do know the difference between Nils Loughgren (or whatever he's called) and Lenny Kravitz. Technically, at least. They're both annoying at the end of the day. Add to that Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen. I love my guitars, but music should be soulful (and/or booty kicking) not technically impressive. Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Hendrix and Johnny Marr were/are all amazing guitarists who understood that technique is no replacement for mojo...
