Am I being stupid?

I need your opinions on something. It's just a really insignificant little girly trauma, but it will make me feel better to hear what other people think.

Some friends of ours, who live about 30 miles away, have been coming to School Disco nights with us for the last year or so and have always stayed over at our house on that night. As this has been going on for a while it has now developed to a kind of 'open invitation' - we assume they are coming and they assume they are staying. We are going to the Christmas Party tonight and I hadn't heard anythng from them so I sent a text to one of them who told us that yes, they are going, but they're staying with someone else. I was a bit pissed off that they didn't think to let us know (we bought in extra food for tomorrow's breakfast, thinking they would be staying), but I womdered if I was perhaps over-reacting. What do you think?

I dont think its over reacting at all, i hate when people change plans and dont tell you or leave things to the last minuet.

To solve the problem you should just have a huge breakie tomorrow

Well, unless they'd told you that they were staying, I'd say that yes, you're over-reacting a little. You've assumed that they'd be staying over because they have done in the past.. Ever remember the old addage "To assume makes an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'"?
I'd put it down to one of those things and move on, or else you could make a mountain out of a molehill..

I would say yes and no hunny, sometimes we all assume things rightly or wrongly, they could have informed you earlier of the plans , but also you could have contacted them to confirm the details, either way its not worth getting upset over, just go have a great time :month:

The problem with informal arrangements like this is that you never really know what the other people in them think. Maybe your friends felt that they were imposing on you by always staying at yours, and when they didn't hear from you thought they'd make other arrangements rather than just assuming you'd be happy to have them. I know if it was me I'd start to feel a bit awkward, staying at someone's house on a regular basis, even if they said they were happy about it - let alone if they never actually said anything!

Although I can see why you feel fed up, but I think you need to try to rise above it - it certainly isn't worth risking a friendship over!

Aww. Was it awful? I had one taken earlier in the year which wasn't too bad, but I was moshing to Smells Like Teen Spirit at the time so it could have been better...
