Hannah is having her MMR this afternoon at 2.45. And i'm nervous.
As you all know, i'm in favour of immunisation, not necessarily just the 3 in 1 which Hannah will be having, just having your child immunised. I've always intended to have her immunised..
I hate needles with a passion, i know the vaccination will initially hurt and it'll make her cry. It may make her cranky later on, she might develop a slight rash or a temperature (plenty of calpol on hand).. but it's the alleged "side-effects" that worry me.. I don't want to go into the whole argument of the supposed connection between the vaccination and it's "links" with autism, but i have a little voice in the back of my mind going "but what if?". The last time i felt like this, was the weekend after i got my blood test results for Downs Syndrome when i was pregnant with Hannah.. I thought everything would be okay, but it came back 1 in 12.. and i had a scan and an amnio.. it was possibly one of the most traumatic times of my life.
I know i'm over reacting, i guess i just need to develop a thicker skin... but for now, wishes of good luck would be nice about now
I'll let you know how it went later, when it's all over...

I also hate needles ( ), so I can partially understand what's making you nervous.

Well, we waited 45 minutes til she got the jab.. Hannah wasn't happy with the health visitor for giving it to her (if looks could kill and all of that ), but she soon got over it. Yeah, Mon, she was very noisy, but i think she was more annoyed that i had to hold her still more than the actual jab itself!. I didn't know about the calpol before the jab.. but the health visitor told me to give her 5 mls when we got home (which she's had) and 5 mls before bedtime.
Thanks for coming through with the good luck vibes peeps, was much appreciated

I have no problem with needles so long as I dont see them going in! Ive never found them particularly painful, I just cant stand actually watching them pierce the skin, it makes my skin crawl!
Miss Corrupt That deaf, dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball!
I hope Hannahs all better now
Dangermouse One more word from you , and i'll bitch slap you so hard, your children will be born well-behaved.
Hannah is absolutely fine with no after-effects of her jab .

I'm sorry I missed your initial post Keeny, 'Hugs' for that. And I'm really glad it all went smoothly,(no bad effects e.t.c.) I can fully understand how you must have felt, I'm stillputting Liam's MMR off, for the silliest of reasons. But I'll say this, my nephew was rushed to the dr's the other day with suspected measles, and at that moment I wished I had 'had' the MMR done before then, because I know measles can kill. I then decided,he's having the MMr and that's it! side effects or not.
