I'm gonna be a secret agent
I have decided what I wanna do with my life, I want to become a secret agent and save the world from megalomaniacs and pull laods of women and eat potaoes (roasted, not mashed). I just need a bit of help getting into it. Oh and yeah I know its not nexactly secret now i've told you all but i'm sure the secret service won't mind.

And besides, all an enemy agent would need to do would be to pretend to be a fit Canadian bird on MSN, and there go all our national secrets...

If you're a brit, you get two choices depending on if you're a homebody, or like to travel:
The Security Service (MI5)
www.mi5.gov.uk/job_vacancies/job_vacancies_1.htm
MI5 operates in the UK only, and come under the Home Office.
They can't do much more that follow people around, for anything else they need the assistance of the Special Branch. These are guys in Spooks.
The Secret Intelligence Service (SIS/MI6)

"Six" operate outside the UK - and wherever the hell else they might want to, as such they come under the Foreign Office. This is Bond's lot - they get the cool toys - "Five" just get listening devices and cameras....no rivalry there at all.......
If you just like listening to other people's conversations GCHQ is for you - you can use the faststream link for that too.
Since WWII GCHQ has been chartered to record every internaional call from the UK, since the advent of E-Mail and the internet, they keep a record of any form of electronic communication.
Communications are recorded and then analysed by computers searching for key words.
Flagged communications are then passed on to a human to review and assess.

I'm with Ming on this one. Who'd think that someone who went around saying they want to be a secret agent actually was one?
I also think that line, 'potaoes (roasted, not mashed)', is one of the coolest things I've heard/read in a very long time.
