It's because Solo cards are designed to be used by 16-18 year olds, they're designed to not let you spend over your limit etc.. Due to this, most online places don't accept them..
Go into the bank and ask them to change it for a switch card.

Soon told Natwest where they could stick it! Ditch your current bank and join one that treat adults like adults hun, thats what I did!

It's not that they don't accept Solo, it's one of their recognised cards, it's just the fact that 16-18 year olds aren't allowed to buy wine glasses...what's that all about???

Love my solo card, but I'm under 18, so it's really quite handy for me. If it were actually alcohol you were buying it would be understandable that they wouldn't sell it to you with a solo card, but it's just a wine glass! My young enterprise company sells wine glasses! It's not like you HAVE to put alcohol in it and if you did, it's none of their business. Tis strange...very strange...

its a truely ridiculous rule. they aren't designed specifically for 16-18 yr olds. they are designed for anybody who wants a debit card without being able to go over their limit - quite sensible really. I have one on my graduate account so i can't accidently rack my overdraft even more because I don't monitor that account as carefully as i do my main account that i use all the time.

I agree misss kitty it is really stupid. And as the wine glass didn't come with any alcohol I can't see why it was refused anyway

Oh, I know you're not supposed to, but I have managed to go over the limit on my Solo I didn't think it would let me, but it has done a few times now (I've been up to £20 overdrawn!). Bit annoying since you have to pay something like 30% on something you weren't supposed to be able to do.

LMAO this is exactly what happened to me when I tried ordering the ITV MONKEY keyring they said due to adult contents and parental advisory I couldnt purchase this item I was furious i sent e-mails demanding what the hell was the adult contents of the Itv Monkey but the only excuse they came back with was the card I was using. I was not happy. *pout*

Yeah, that is so strange. You should definitely put your 'complaining hat' on and email them about it. I wrote a letter to one of those partworks companies once who sent me an offer for their latest 'PC Basics' type of magazine. I was furious and told them that I had an A-Level in computing and had been using the internet for however many years it was... and that I was going to use their CD-ROM as a drinks coaster. Even if you don't send it, writing a cleverly worded rant will make you feel better
