Awww bless
I want to cry... :(
For about the past 9 months i've had an old 205 GTI 1.9 stored in a warehouse. I've meant to be doing it up, but cannot find for love nor money a garage in my area. The only option appears to be rent council land and build one, which is not the easiest or cheapest of options by a long stretch. Now the warehouse is being sold and the car must come out. Add to this i've lost the keys.
Of course it has no tax, mot or insurance.
I went to visit her today to pump up the tyre, and after deciding scrapping her is the best option it was heartbreaking. Seeing my baby again changed everything, and I soooo dont want to scrap it, but it is probably the best thing to do. Otherwise I have it moved, park it untaxed, get a locksmith to it, and then i've still gotta find somewhere to store it unless I want to get done for having no tax. My decision has to be quick, because it has to be out by tommorow (in fact technically it was supposed be out by this saturday just gone at the latest so im already overstepping the mark)
I need a shoulder to cry on guys
It feels like taking my beloved old pet out to the field with a shotgun....

I felt the same when I sold my lovely Soft-top jeep.
I felt total stupid watching it being driven away, with a little tear in my eye but you get so attached to them after a while.

Yep, I put my old done up Citroen AX out of it's misery a bit ago so I can definately understand
You can always start another project car in the future when you've got somewhere to do it up in

I'm waiting for my car to give up the ghost soon. It's slowly getting eaten up by rust and it needs a new windscreen as a crack is slowly working it's way up the middle (result of a stone thrown up by a speeding driver! ). For a 1L engine car it's held up pretty well but I'm relying on an endowment policy to buy a new car but that doesn't pay out till October 2004 so I'm praying that my car can stay road-worthy for a bit longer!
Although it doesn't like the cold and takes a while to get going on frosty mornings (and has stalled half a dozen times!), I will miss it when I finally get rid of it. I've had it since I passed my test five years ago and I've driven it all over the country so it's more than served it's purpose.

I feel your pain FM I have the added heartache of naming all my cars so they are even more like old friends. My first car which I had before I passed my test (Snigger) was a really clapped out Ford Fiesta Mark 1 & it helped me to get loads of driving practice so I could pass my test. It had to go back to the car auctions though as I needed a more reliable car as mum really hated me going out driving in it.
Next car was a gorgeous Renault 5 GT Turbo thingy in Blue & it (Rupert) was a real shame as I did it all up with extra spotlights & foglights & whizzy car stereo but it was far too high on the insurance so I couldn't ever drive it Back to the car auctions with that one.
After a few more cars... Benjy & Tabatha I then made the move over to company cars... poor Monty (Mondeo) was written off in July 2000, then came Rommel (long story!) & now to my current car Yorkie
Wave goodbye to this car FM & as MonSTeR says, bide your time until you are in a position to have storage space then you can have another project car *hugs*

Aww Could you not sell it to someone who does have the facilities to do it up? I suppose that would involve getting a new key and somewhere to store it until a buyer can be found. Dammit, I can understand why you're gutted.
I never named the pug, but I did name my AX GT before it. She was called Tanja. I had tears in my eyes when the scrapper took her away after an accident.

As for an R5 GT Turbo - always wanted one myself. Nearly bought one before the pug but it was a bit of a banger. They go like the clappers though!!
Thanks for the kind words everyone. You cheered me up. Kelly cheered me up when she said the Pug and Tanja would be in car heaven having races

Awww, I know how you feel Funky Monkey - I remember being in tears when my lovely terracotta Mark 1 Astra with turquoise waves down the sides went off to the scrapyard It had to go, the suspension was about to collapse and even to weld it together so I could get a few more months out of it would have cost about 4 times the car's worth - but I loved it!
