I have a number of places I'd love to visit. Firstly, I aim to go on safari in Africa and try and see a Lion for myself or the elephants.

Disneyland is another place I'd love to go before I'm too old to enjoy the place, for the big kid inside me.

When I have the time and money I'd love to go back to Canada again and see more than before. It's all so different from one town to the next.

Basically any holiday which allows me to both relax and immerse myself into the city and see as much as I possibly can. The kind of holiday that makes you need another when you get home

Lioness, if you want to see Lions and Elephants than I strongly recommend Ado National Park and Scotia (sp?) Lion Reserve in the Eastern Cape. The lion reserve is particularly great, as you travel in an open top vehicle and they take you right up to the lions - which can be particularly worrying when one of your travel companions start to move about to get a better camera angle, while getting the attention of a hungry lion at the same time...

I was there for two weeks and managed to fit in Montreal, Victoriaville, Quebec City, Taddousac, Toronto, Niagara, Ottowa, Hull and back to Montreal. We really packed in tons of activities, buildings, museums, Niagara Falls (Maid Of the Mist, Underground Caverns, Lightwater Spectacular) and whalewatching in a tiny twelve-man dinghy.

Montreal is great, and in June the weather will be beautiful. The Jazz and comedy festivals are also on around then (the Jazz festival covers several city blocks and there are outdoor stages all over the place - last years headliner was Ray Charles).

Loved New York and would certainly go back.

Was thinking of maybe going to Madrid this summer if Liverpool play in the Real Centenary Tournament but the thing I would love to do more than anything else is trek in the Himalayas.

Ho hum, maybe next year.

You'll NEVER be to old to enjoy Disney. We're off to Florida aagin this time next year and I'll be there getting excited with the kids Disneyworld Florida is much better than Disneyland California so if you get the choice go for Florida.

Yep - Florida was lots of fun (I once or twice found myself wishing we'd left the kids at home ) but right now, my idea of a great holiday is a little house somewhere in the middle of nowhere - ten miles from the nearest town - with no phone or tv... mmmmmmmmmmmmdesolate

That's actually the place we were basing the holiday around! Not sure where else to do, but one idea was to fly to New York, hire a car and drive up through Niagara and Toronto to Montreal, then maybe back via Boston

Malta for me, I love the place. Hoping to get to Iceland in May after the council elections (need to get my finger out and book though) and the Pacific North West has always appealed too. But Malta comes top of the list.

Oh, LA was brilliant and the people really cool and fun but Australia sounds NICE but I have friends in South Africa and family, friends and a flat in Italy.....oh just anywhere but here....but I MUST have a pooter or laptop or I'd go crazy.

San Diego. Oh, god, San Diego. Mexican food, hot weather, beaches, and it's a city (read: SHOPPING!), plus do I need to remind you, blink-182 LIVE THERE! If you go in Sombrero in North Park, you might see them.

Oh and lots of skateboarding and surfing.

And PUNK ROCK!!! !

I have been lucky enough to have quite a few holidays (usually only one a year though).

I have really enjoyed Florida (twice), Malta, Spain (many times), Greece (mainland & some islands), Turkey, Ibiza, Tenerife, Tunisia, St Kitts (Caribbean) & a few other places not to mention UK type holidays & breaks.

I think my ideal holiday now would be a villa with some close friends. Somewhere with lovely weather, that had it's own swimming pool with some steps cut into the pool (not the shiny metal step ladder that gets so hot in the sun you take the top 3 layers of skin from your hands when trying to use it!). Obviously this villa would need a kicking sound system for providing 'round the pool' music Also a hire jeep type car would be fun so we could pootle around town to buy vital supplies of drinks, food etc, go for meals (to save on cooking all the time).

*wanders off thinking she should really try to look into this at some point to see if it is as good as she is imagining*

Funny. So many people want to come to the US, and I just want to go to the UK.

My favorite city in the US though is New Orleans, and I have't seen anyone mention it yet. Music, food, dance, architecture--plus there's some serious decadence going on down there. Get a hurricane in your hand, and anything is possible.

Canada is also wonderful. One of my favorite memories is driving down the interstate, glancing out my window and thinking, "Oh, there's a big bear," and turning back to the road before it hit me: "The hell? A bear!! Drinking from that lake!"

Sorry for dragging up a thread that's several days old, but I meant to respond to this a while back.

I so agree with you Diandra. New Orleans is great--and totally bizarre at the same time. I've only been there once, a few years ago. But I remember walking around the French Quarter very late on a hot, steamy summer night. The streets were packed as if it was midday, and music and laughter was spilling out into the night from all of the bars and restaurants and--well, whatever those other places where. Most buildings had their doors or fronts open to the night air. Everyone seemed to be either drunk or well on the way to it. It was like the whole point of the place was just one big old party.

I don't think New Orleans is a top destination for tourists from other countries, but I agree with you that it should be. The food, the music, dancing, the architecture, Cajun and Creole cullture--yep, first rate. And, if you're into it, the swamps and bayous nearby make a nice diversion. I'd definitely enjoy going back to New Orleans.
