Thanks guys. Basically, the management consultancy market is grim right now. So are the media and telecoms industries. Care to guess how things look for a management consultancy specialising in media and telecoms?

I've had my consultation meeting and must admit, I probably should have been more concerned or tried harder to make a case for being retained but I've been doing this consulting lark for almost 6 years now and maybe now's as good a time for a change as any. In any case, nothing to be gained from stressing over it now - we'll all find out a week on Monday.

BTW, re: lack of sleep - this is mild compared to some of the stuff we had to do in Singapore - regularly up way past 1.30am! Of course, it's easier to do that when you're staying at a hotel 10 minutes walk from the office.

Anyway, I'm going to a party this weekend and plan on getting totally bladdered. And then there's the T21 party the following weekend...

That's the right attitude! I was sacked 3 weeks before Xmas in 2001 and ended up getting a fantastic job that would have passed me by had I not been forced into looking. Best to try not to worry (parties and drink should help ), and just see how it goes. My Gran always used to say "what's for you won't go past you". It'll work out for the best.

Yep I work in the Telecoms industry, and my place are making staff cuts as well. Thankfully at the moment it's not my department, but it soon will be!!!

Yep, 'tis done. Notice period starts next week so at least that's another week's worth of pay plus the redundancy stuff. Time to get busy on that CV I guess. Funny thing is that the strongest emotion I feel right now is one of relief.

Oh well, there's still fencing this evening!

I had been wondering if you'd heard anything yet, and now that you say you're relieved I don't know whether I should send my congratulations or commiserations! So, have an all purpose e-hug instead!

Thanks. To be honest, I don't know the answer to that one either. Probably never will. I guess I'm fortunate enough to be in a position to be able to afford to have mixed feelings about events. Guess that might change pretty damned rapidly if my cash reserves start running low!
