You can get some form of ID card somewhere I think, it's taken everywhere. Be careful though, unless your mates are 16 too, if you get caught buying ciggies for them you could be the major brown stuff.
ID
Now that i'm 16, can I apply for ID somewhere? It would be handy for stuff like buying cigarettes for friends, proving under 18ness (lol made up word), bus tickets and for doing the lottery! Any idea guys/?

I had a rummage around for you as the only scheme I ever used was for over 18s. I found a couple of sites that might help...

I got a Proof Of Age card, which as I recall had to be validated in a similar way to a passport, with someone reputable confirming your identity.
Dunno if they are still around but I got my leaflet for applying in my local co-op/off licence.

Trouble with NI cards is that they don't actually count as identification as to who you are. Mine has that written on it somewhere, presumably so you can't use someone else's card. I have a 16+ card. I look terrible on it so I don't carry it around anymore, however I think there are usually leaflets for ID cards in train stations and things? Not sure though!
That's what I had too. I thought they were for over 18s but they may have changed it. When I was 16 there was no lottery and I didn't smoke so there was no need for one!

I've noticed that since I turned 17 my purse has just filled with photos of myself on cards. It's quite disturbing really - when I want to get money out I have a million pictures of me staring at me. A student railcard works as good ID and is handy if you go on trains a lot (but useless if you don't ).
Well I have an NI card but there are 2 problems a) I've lost it and b) it says on it "not proof of ID"
I went into Sainsburys tonight and they had ID application forms which I've just messed up oops.

lol, it seems like we spend the first 18 years trying to look older, then we spend the rest of it trying to look younger.. (Unless your name is tam and you try to buy lottery tickets )
My uncle is refusing a bus pass because he doesn't want to acknowledge his age
edit: typos suck.
