My Throat
I thoguht I was just hung over yesterday, but I think it was partly cuz i'm ill too. When I got in yesterday my throat was a bit sore so I looked in the mirror and its all swolen up, everytime I swallow anything, it really hurts and I ahrdly got any sleep last night. Then tis morning I looked again and theres all blood there too, its like bleeding on my tonsils and theres hardly any hole left of my throat its all inflamed and red and really puffed out. I don't wanna go to the doctors cuz i'd have to go emergency which is always a ngihtmare as i'll be waiting hours and if I book I won't get in for weeks. Anyone know what it could be, I used to get tonsilitus a lot butthis seems different.

Have you tried gargling with warm salt water?
That may bring down the swelling a bit, plus clear up any infection you may have.
My own throats slightly dodgy today too, but it's just a bit dry & my voice is going.

Also try a lozenge or something.
If there's an NHS drop-in centre nearby you should pop in there and they'll help you out. You hardly have to wait and they'll either be able to trat it there or tell you where the best place to go is. You should be able to check where your nearest one is at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk

It's the mention of blood that has me slightly worried: blood ain't something I tend to associate with sore throats...
Look on the bright side Spike, if your voice hasn't gone too much, you might be able to get a job working for George Lucas...
"Lozenge, Lord Vader?" (Please let there be someone else here who knows that advert..)

Yep you are right - I have that too as of arriving home last night. Either that or it was the Blackpool air !

I'm all "Gabor" today too
It does sound suspiciously like tonsillitis Spike.. and the best thing to do is make an appointment with your GP incase you need antibiotics. It'll be a hassle, but it'll be worth it to feel better soon
Me too!

When you work in telesales this is NOT a good thing!!
cheers guys, i'm pretty sure its tonsilitus after going to that site and ansdwering the question thingy but am feeling a bit better after having some pain killers and eating a block of cheese, think i sjut need to eat lots of stuff and that'll help.
As a fellow toncilitis sufferer, my GP recommended gargling some water with a dissolved asprin in it.

It generally does the trick for me.
I'm afraid it's more serious, you'll have to get to hospital pronto and have it amputated, the neck that is..

SPIKE, you're simply suffering from the traditional con-cold. I always get one after a convention weekend. Your body is just throwing a hissy fit because you partied too much and haven't had enough sleep. You probably didn't eat a whole lot either and what you did eat will have been junk food and sweets. It'll disappear in a day or so once your body recuperates.
And yes, I have a mild con cold now too. It's just proof of a good weekend :-D

It's hard to believe its been over a week since returning from Blackpool - my own sore throat adapted into a full blown chesty cough . Today it seems to be on the downslope and slowly resuming back to normal.
Spike, how you doing now?
