I have always believed that on some level the majority of relationships have an element of sexuality to them - not always all the time - but certainly on occasion. You only have to watch very young children almost flirting with the opposite sex parent to see that.

So yes, I would say that either consciously or not, most people have had thoughts of a sexual nature concerning their friends.

But, in answer to whoever this imposter is, I would say it would depend on the friend. I know some friends who I find sexually attractive, and yet also know that we would make lousy lovers and probably kill each others. And generally speaking, most people want exclusive relationships, not casual sex with friends. So getting messy with a friend often gets .. well .. messy.

Basically, just because you fancy someone doesn't always mean you think it's a good idea to do anything about it. Which is a long-winded way of saying yes.

I'd say most people would have considered every friend of theirs in a sexual manner, although this is usually done subconsciously. Humans, even now in this 'civilised' world, still work on a primitive level of needs and desires, one of which being the need for reproduction. So we subconsciously evaluate people as to whether they are partner, friends or enemy material.

Of course some people do this consciously too.

Damn... my brain doesn't like this thinking thing so early on a Saturday morning. Feel free to ignore my ramble.

I'd been friends with hubby for well over 9 months and never thought about him sexually at all. To me he was just a friend and we met in the pub and chatted every week and that was it. Not quite sure what changed - it wasn't alcohol related or anything (which is something that usually contributes to looking at someone differently )

Although back to thinking about your friends, I guess each of us looks in someway at people around us and makes some assumption about them. If you are single it is easy to look into your immediate circle of friends and starting to be attracted to qualities about them - which in turn make lead you to feel physically attracted to them.

I guess it depends where you want things to go ...

First post on here and I thought I would chuck my two cents in if thats ok.

I have had only 2 people who are friends I have had sexual thoughts of and thats strictly because they are extremely hot and also very nice people. But then I think to myself how would I feel afterwards and would it affect the friendship. But they are still hot as hell..

I don't know really. I haven't really had sexual thoughts really strongly, but if you're comfortable with them most of the time i'm more touchy feely. It's not like I want to go and have sex with them or anything

Erm, i think sometimes feelings get all confuzzled and you confuse strong friendship with something more, happened with me and one of my best boy mates and the other week we ended up having a drunken snog and it made things v.awkward not a good idea, i think sometimes it can be really good though
