Cripes - a contender from Holidays From Hell anyone?
Olympic tour operators
My sister and her boyfriend would like people to know how useless they are so here is a copy of there letter to Olympic.
------
Having just arrive home from Haraki, Rhodes in Greece I am writing to inform of you how thoroughly disgusted I am with the quality and standards of Olympic holidays.
Upon arrival to Haraki, Rhodes at approximately 6.30 in the morning, our transfer representative ushered us to our room, let us in and left with no attempt to speak to us, no help carrying luggage and definitely no manners, we saw this as very rude and a bad start to our holiday As a representative of your company I would believe that you would at least have given them training on how to be friendly.
After unpacking the standards went from bad to worse, staying in Alia 3 we knew that it would be basic but we didnÂ’t know that the standards would be unacceptable, with so many problems it is impossible to talk about them so they are listed in detail below;
1. The bed nearest to the door was broken, with numerous slats missing, and a 9-inch nail protruding from the leg and the smell was unbearable.
2. The maid was disgusting, unapproachable and apparently spoke no English however she seemed to have a good chat with our representative Helen, after demanding two weeks pay for the air conditioning up front which was 80 euros! Consequently causing us a great financial hassle, and to top it off it was turned off no less than 5 times whilst on holiday! And then finally being told by our representative that we did not have to pay until the end of the holiday for it.
3. The fire alarm was disconnected, upon testing the battery and the fire alarm neither worked!
4. Contrary to your advertisement that Haraki was so quiet and peaceful we were directly above a bar, and of course we had to be egged which was really nice when it stunk in the morning and woke us up at 2 oÂ’clock in the morning.
5. Toilet roll and soap were not provided even though we were told and it was clearly stated on the certificate that we were entitled to it within the room.
6. The maintenance of the room was appalling, many light bulbs were missing, expose wires were evident, the freezer did not work properly, and our very attractive wardrobe was propped up with a couple of slats of old MDF board.
7. Our room was not clean upon arrival, crisps, hairs of many different colours and descriptions, toothpaste and dust were evident under the bed, a manky old sponge was also left in our toilet.
8. The sink, toilet and shower stunk of sewage, leaving our room smelling throughout the holiday, as the maid was not adequate enough to understand how to clean thoroughly and properly.
And as if this wasn’t enough we were shocked to discover that one of our t-shirts had been used to clean up the egg incident. Upon confronting our Representative Helen, Rep No 127(booking reference 819792) about this, her attitude was appalling and extremely unprofessional, she was unconcerned, extremely rude and was more worried that she had to sort the problem out. Helen had informed us that she would deal with the problem personally and get the t-shirt back quickly and solve the problem fast. After a week into our holiday we became worried that our t-shirt would never be returned! On our last day we were approached by the hotel owner, his knowledge of the t-shirt was minimal and his stories changed every five minutes! The stories include, ‘My wife is cleaning it’, ‘It is in Alia 1’, It has been thrown away’, ‘I haven’t heard of it’, ‘Helen has lied to you’ these are a few of the good old stories he told us.
We came to leaving, and still no t-shirt! We called the Olympic head office, where we thrown into a heavy argument with an extremely arrogant, selfish and down right rude representative named Lynne Reese, who was unhelpful and had no good or successful advice, and politely informing us that ‘it is only a t-shirt sir’, very successful customer service Olympic!
Our t-shirt suddenly appeared, with the owner shouting at us and arguing with his wife, his wife being the same incapable maid that attempted to clean our apartment during our short stay began pointing and starring at us, the t-shirt was still covered in dirt and has never come out to this day!
We had headed of for a relaxing, enjoyable holiday, however it was ruined by the incompetence of Olympic Holidays, once again I would like to inform you how thoroughly disgusted I am with Olympic holidays, our attempts to make this public are going forward successfully.
Compensation for the £25.00 Levis t-shirt, the $30.00 for 5 wasted days of air conditioning, money for 2 weeks of toilet paper and soap, would cover the cost of the pure inconvenience and disappointment caused by Olympic Holidays. A holiday voucher would not be acceptable as we feel that we cannot trust Olympic Holidays again
A letter of the same description, including more problems such as the road traffic accident you made our neighbours walk past whilst a mans head was split open and he was crying with pain, should follow from our neighbours in Alia 3 whilst on holiday.
