You may remember the Amnesty International petition to prevent this woman's brutal execution by stoning for bearing a child outside wedlock.
Good news. Her conviction has been overturned and she has been freed.
The bad news is that two other people are still awaiting appeals on their similar sentences

I find it mind-boggling that rather than just seeing how barbaric this sentence was and overturning it, the conviction was quashed on a religious technicality.
Amina's husband has been dead for some years and her child is 2. Prosecutors took the child as living proof of sex. However aspects of Muslim law show precedent for women being pregnant for five years
Shame they had to replace one form of archaic religion-based ignorance with another for justice to be done, huh?
