Wouldn't bother me one bit (above and beyond the fact that having a Monarch at all bothers me), but it presents obvious problems in that the Monarch, be it King or Queen, is head of the Church of England, and as the Church isn't exactly hot for gay people in their clergy, they aren't going to want the head of their church being gay.

Although, maybe a gay King would force the church into change.

In my eyes, best solution would be to scrap the Monarchy and totally disestablish the church from the state. Sorted.

Sorry but as soon as I heard that I burst into laughter! Personally I don't give a crap, I ain't the worlds biggest fan of the royal family anyways.

Thing that amuses me is that we've already had several bisexual adulterous kings - James the VI and I anybody?? Wife, kids, and many many pretty boyfriends. There was no such concept as "homosexuality" then (as an idea, not as a fact), and it did raise many eyebrows - lots of scurrilous pamphlets and mutterings in court - but they didn't depose him for it. They did depose our most famous gay/bi king, Edward II, dispatching him in a nasty and, they thought (I stress they thought), rather apt way into which I shall not go on a family site.

We've had serial adulterers (Henry VIII, George IV, etc etc etc), despots, madmen (George III anybody?) - and the only reason they've gone and got rid of the monarchy altogether was when one of them had the temerity to be Catholic! It's in their genes, so why anyone is surprised, or even thinks it's a problem, is beyond me. We have more historical precedent for this than we have for having a straight faithful monarch.

Although I'm with those who say up against the wall with the lot of them!! Come the revolution...

Another for the removal of the monarchy and the rest of the aristocracy in some vague attempt to head towards a more meritocratic/socialist society. Oh, and that bit about seperation of Church and State that Maff mentioned.
