hmmmm...Chanel is always good
Need girly advice on pressie
I have a (female) friends birthday coming up - this saturday actually so to say I'm leaving this late is a disservice to the word - and I'd like to buy her some perfume. 'Course, I'm a blokey bloke (<caveman>ugg</caveman> and have *no* clue what perfume a girl'd appreciate recieving. £20-£40 quid is my price range on this one, and knowing Rach, we're talking something that sounds expensive and elegant and that-kinda-thing. If it smells nice too, that'd help
You're all nice smelling people, help me out? :-D

I swear by Issy Miayke (sp!)
Its well known enough to impress yet inexpensive enough hnot to break the bank.
Smell wise its a slightly spicy/woody sort of fragrance, but still feminine (if you buy the ladies version of course)
Having said that it is more of a daytime fragrance and for gifts you should give something a bit more special. My current faves are Ghost, Angel Innocent and Dior Addict.
The difficulty with purfume is that they are a very individual thing. It may be worth going to the purfume counter in your local House of Fraiser and telling the assistant what the girl is like and see what she suggests.
Of course, if you are close to the girl in question then buy something you like the smell of
I would recommend not buying anything that costs less than £25 for 50mls and don't buy a big bottle of anything coz if she doesn't like it you're screwed!!!
Hope this helps

I can only tell you about the stuff the girlies in my family wear.
Angel - chocolate & vanilla notes. Very yummy (guess who's this is )
Angel Innocent - a softer, slightly lighter version of Angel
Georgio 'G' (the purple slinky looking bottle) - not too sweet, a tad flowery, but not over-powering.
L'air Du Temps - a bit sweet & flowery, but not over-powering.
Rive Gauche - musky & a tad heavy
I hope that helps

I'd agree with Barbara and go with Chanel... I love Chanel's "Allure", it's gorgeous
Have a look on the Boots website : www.wellbeing.com as they have some ideas.
I must also go with Clinique's "Happy", that's a light, almost citrussy perfume and it's very popular

My fav is Baby Pink Jeans by Versace which is my everyday perfume. I usually get a more expensive bottle too and I like to change that everytime I buy one. Current favourite is Baby Doll by Yves Saint Laurent which is a rose & fruity kind of smell. Personally I would only like people to buy me perfume if they get the all clear from me 'cos I'd hate to see them waste their money on something I didn't like.
Can't you drop hints? Bring the subject of perfume into the convo?

eternity by calvin cline (sp) i have been approached by both men AND women because of this perfume its lush.
*grins* The chances of me bringing perfume into a regular conversation are low. I would actually try it, but with this amount of time to go it'd be too easy for her to go from "why on earth are you talking about perfumes" to "so you're buying me perfume, then?" .

Went out today and erased £35.50 (after a little bit of the old julz negotiating charm was exercised on the nice perfume lady.. a slick saving of, "nothing, but we'll put it in a nice box for you" was achieved) on a bottle of Chanel Allure.
