i remember hearing something on the radio about spam and junk mail being rallied against if some of these emails are traced back to the senders they are being fined or sumfin i cant quite remember but dont want to take a stab in the dark and then being quoted on it but i think it's all being banned or something to that effect coz some of the things being advertised is illegal. i dunno, no doubt someone will correct me.
but yey good thing all i get now is the crap i signed up for and forget to remove myself from no more "enlarge your schlong" emails thank god. im happy with mine the way it is

I remember hearing something about this, but I wasn't really listening. Something about sending Spam to home computers being subject to fines and something else about kids seeing things they *really* shouldn't in their inbox.

Can't recall any details though.

Now you mention it I haven't had any offers to extend my penis, lose weight or buy viagra for months.....

I belive that Hotmail are now using a commercial anti-spam solution which will probably explain the sudden reduction of Spam in your mailbox.

on yahoo and excite theres also a new option to report the spam/junk mail so i've been grassing them all up

It's illegal now to send spam from within the EU...although that won't stop anyone from countries outwith the EU doing it.

All good... though it's actually quite soul-destroying to wake up to a completely empty inbox every day!

Still had one of these yesterday - quite graphic pictures that made me turn to hubby and say I was glad we didn't have minors in the house!

Certainly hotmail has filtered out a lot of the rubbish I would normally get on that account.

But my default ntl account is still getting a lot of viagra etc rubbish which is why I pretty much ignore that one and set up the existing account for important stuff

As part of the problem with SPAM is the difficulty in tracing any law is unlikely to be affective. I had heard they were proposing it here, and in some US states, but not heard any confirmation.

Personally, I've only seen a steady increase, where I have to delete 99% of my emails before I get to anything actually meant for me. And I've been using Yahoos report facility for ages. Also managed to fill up my 'block address filter'.
