I was quite lucky with the pair of mine 'cos I was at college when they were both toilet training so I just went in one morning and announced we were toilet training and let them get on with it, lol.
At home they just used to run around with pants on rather than naked 'cos I wanted them to get used to the feel of wearing pants and if they had an accident what it felt like. I was really lucky with Sam 'cos he took to it right away and was dry day & night within less than two weeks (he was 2 and 4 months). Billy was more of a challenge. In fact it's only been since he started school that he hasn't been leaving it 'til the last minute and then having an accident. He was always quite happy to sit around in poopy pants
Some of the things I used to do was when I went to bed I got them to sit on the potty. They never used to wake up fully and just sat there, did the business and go back to sleep. We had a huge pile of stickers in the bathroom and when they went, they were allowed to put a sticker on the potty. If they had a dry night we had a sticker chart and if they went dry 5ish nights in a row we would buy a small present for them. We also bought a kiddie toilet seat (from Argos I think) which used to fit over the proper toilet seat and have a little step ladder connected to help them get up. They liked this
All I can say is good luck, have lots of patience, remember a clean change of clothes everytime you leave the house and make sure you have a spare duvet ready to go 'cos there's nothing worse than changing smelly pee'd on sheets and duvets at 3am
