complain expressing what a knot they have left you in by not letting you know sooner it might not get you ya job back (or it might in fact) but having a go might make you feel a little better give em hell.

Sorry, that sucks.

On the money thing, try hopping down to a temping agency, the work sucks usually but they can get you a job for the next day (In my experience).

On the awful flat thing, i had that. first time i saw my student flat in Norwich, i turned around and came home! I couldnt live there. think 6 ft by 8 ft, 60's patterns and decorated in orange wallpaper and purple carpet!

I came back the next day armed with dozens of cute pics, my own bedding, a portable TV and arial and a rug to cover most of the floor. It was livable, if not comfortable.

Student housing sucks tho. even with those things i had to go up 6 flights of stairs 4 to 8 times every day and the wallpaper still showed through the posters gaps.

I quit 2 months later (but for mainly other reasons).

We have a lift and were the only block in the whole uni that does...i think its supposed to make up for the fact that the plaster on the stairways is falling off and the heating works when it feels like!

so wound up with this job thing, gonna go and try to find something later...UGH! Just when everything seemed to be going ok.

Sound advice, methinks! That Murphy sure is one evil *bleep*, no doubt about it, but at least you have us lot to cheer you up!

My flat isn't so bad but then again, I do have to put up with a fire alarm system kinda like your heating; it goes off whenever the hell it bloody well feels like it! (Recent examples include midnight, 2am, 6:30am, basically whenever I'm trying to sleep!)

Hagen Daz, HAGEN DAZ, sod that, Ben & Jerries is far better comfort food
