Do you think its gone to far

DonÂ’t know if this has been mentioned elsewhere.

Was surfing round amazon the other day and was fine tuning my recommendations in the dvd section.

One such recommendation made me utter one of the harsher expletives. The DVD in question is apparently part of a set. It was Buffy the Vampire Slayer Â– The Slayer collection Â– Angel. (Features the episodes 'Angel', 'Innocence', 'I Only Have Eyes For You' and 'Amends')

Apparently you can now get character centric collections. Is it me or are has the line been crossed. I can find no discernable difference between these dvds and having the season box sets. Nothing special that sets it apart, other than you can now watch episodes featuring you favourite characters one after the other without having to get off your rear and swap dvds.

What do you think??

I think these character-centric sets are probably aimed more towards people who like the characters and want some of the episodes but don't want to buy or can't afford to buy the boxsets. For that, it is a perfectly good idea.

And at the end of the day, if you've got the sets, you don't have to buy the character collections, so it doesn't affect anyone who doesn't want to buy them. No problem as far as i can see.

I suppose so..Kinda..Yeah. I mean true after the farce that was the original boxsets and the packaging fiasco etc, that may be seen as crossing the line. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter to me. I'll only ever buy Angel on DVD anyway...

They're aimed at two very different markets: casual fans on one hand, fanatics

on the other.

So long as Fox continue to produce the season boxsets, they can release what they bally well like.

It's basically the same as The Simpsons releasing individual DVDs containing similarly themed episodes as well as whole season box-sets. As Maff says, they're not really aimed at people who already have or want to own every episode. It's kinda like the DVD equivalent of a 'Best Of...' album.
