Amongst the reports was a journalist stating that he hopes that this wouldn't become a long term issue, just after makinbg a report where he might as well have called the BBC the rebel alliance against the evil Darth Blair.

Also did anyone else notice the really bad shots they got of their own bosses resignation statement?

Apparently there is gonna be a report into the report that the report was leaked! So in a few months time when this report is reported on then there will be another report on the report that this report was leaked .... ok I know what I mean, but that really doesnt make any sense at all

I would describe it as a whimsical commentary on the absense of any previous mention of the Hutton inquiry on this forum. Stop being so disruptive

Well untimately the BBC's editorial process has been called into question because sources were not checked and the evidence verified before Andrew Gilligan made the claim in his report. The people at the top have had to go because once this claim was challenged and shown to be 'untrue', the BBC didn't back down.

So what about the question of weapons of mass destruction? The government made a claim about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction based on intellegence. That intelligence is being shown to be more and more dodgy by the day and even staunch pro-war campaigners in the US are now coming out and saying that there probably never were any WMDs.

Have the government not done exactly the same as Gilligan then? Did they not make a very serious claim based on intelligence that was obviously not fully verified? Not only that, but they've done exactly the same as the BBC in defending their claim even when the evidence mounted up against them (claims about a 'New and Damning' dossier being mainly made up of a 12 year old Ph.D. thesis, Hans Blix's numerous reports on the lack of findings in Iraq etc.). So if weapons of mass destruction are never found, surely the top men in the government will have to go, just as those in the BBC did?

Totally accurate. Which is why we can have an enquiry into why some bloke that no-one had previously heard of topped himself, but no sign of an enquiry into the reasons for a war that has killed thousands.
