
There's this stuff called Zoff, available in both pads and liquid which dissolves the sticky stuff pretty rapidly, should do the trick

I once, because I was talking to my mum and being distracted, used nail varnish remover instead of the cleanser and toner I thought I had in my hand... my face was very red and burny for ages after, and I'm lucky I noticed before trying to use it to get my eyeshadow and mascara off...

Yeah, but the stuff in nail varnish remover is pretty weak, and seeing as it's used on an area with skin I very much doubt that there would ever be a problem
I thought that was white spirit the first time I read it! EEK!

I'm a bit late to this, but surgical spirit is probably best for doing that - acetone can give you very nasty burns if you aren't dead careful...
