wellll it were me who asked a while ago about this, i was also using the subject for a project as its something i have an interest in.
at the moment i have my belly button, my lip, and my ears pierced. i'm thinking about getting my nipple (im just a bit wary....anyone who can tell me about it more? like does it hurt a lot, and will it scar if i take it out or desensitize my nipple! ) or tongue pierced next. i have also had my eyebrow pierced in the past, and absolutely loved it! really miss it but it rejected....apparently i'll have no problems if i get it redone again though

as for tattoos, i have 2 in my mind. my first is a tiny tinkerbell-style fairy (i don't want it to be tinkerbell exactly! might have a black dress!) tattoo on my lower back.
the second, is a set of three tiny black stars, which me and my two friends ive known since primary school are planning on getting...to show we're best friends! i guess i see it, as a nice way to always remember them and our friendship, even if we drift apart. i want that on my hip

i really love tattoos, as long as they have a story behind them. like if the person had a reason for getting it done, and why they wanted a paticular design. not a fan if it was done just to follow the crowd
as for piercings, i do looove getting them, if i had my way, i'd have everything pierced! although, i really don't want a face full of metal, which is what's stopping me. i like them to be discreet and small and pretty, just a nice accessory to someone as opposed to a main feature

i don't feel as if peoples perceptions of me change because of my piercings, in my 2 jobs, i haven't even thought about what people think of my piercings, as no-one has said a word that might make me worry, and everyone has been absolutely lovely!!

I think tattoos are a wonderful thing, they are a great way to express yourself without words to the world. I currently have one (an Egyptian eye of Horus on my upper right arm, quite small about 4cm across and 3cm in height) and I have plans for three more. (Bast, egyptian cat goddess on my left top wrist, again, very small, A winged Isis on my upper back and my name in a cartouche on the back of my left calf)

As you might have picked up, I like my tattos to be themed, and I love egypt so it seemed like the way to go. Except for my wrist i'll be able to cover up or show off my tattos as and when i like which i think is an important part, you should always have the choice.

I'm also fine with piercings, i have my ear lobes pireced twice on each side, but i don't think i'd get any more done personally, but i'm fine with them on other people!!

When I had mine done it hurt and I have quite a high pain threshold. It throbbed for about an hour after and then settled down. The reason I took it out a few months later was 'cos I kept catching it and making it sore. It wouldn't heal ('tho the blokies took over a year to heal properly!) I had a hoop through mine with a tiny purple gem on it so I don't know if having a bar makes any difference.

As for scaring I have two tiny crescent shaped scars, Which you wouldn't notice them unless I pointed them out to you. And desensitizing? Not in the slightest

i just got my nipple done ealier today! its a bloody good job i can take pain well and im pretty brave when it comes to piercing.....the pain, was horrible!! i can't tell whether it was the pain from the freeze spray that hurt or the piercing itself....
it was quite bizarre! i didn't want to watch, but i thought the guy had finished and i looked down and there was a needle! quite odd! but pretty cool....it just aches now, which is damn annoying, but im sure it'll feel lots better soon! gonna go sleeep now hehe

To date, I have one tattoo (chinese character for love - alledgedly) and have had my nose pieced a couple of times, but they're long gone.

Piercings - Back in my day (listen to the ol' man go...), around late eighties, early nineties, the only people with piercings were the alternative crowd. To pierce your nose, eyebrow, belly button, tongue or even anywhere on your ear but the lobe, was a statement. But by the mid-nineties this had all changed. Every Hello reading housewife seemed to have their bellt-button pierced. Vogue reading girls had 'tasteful' nose piercings. And every boy-band had to have at least one member with an eye-brow piercing. Basically, it became a fashion statement, not a cultural statement - which is when I lost interest in piercings. Though I do occassional toy with the idea of getting an eyebrow piercing.

Piercings of a more .. erogonous nature .. are still slightly left-field, but I'm basically waaaaaaaay too squimish for that kind of thing...

Tattoos - Done well these are always good, and I don't agree with the too many concept. If the quality is high enough, the quantity is irrelevent. I've wanted one for years, but didn't feel I had the cash until I started my current job some years ago. And have been planning to find the cash and inspiration for another one since, with a couple of more ideas on the back-burner. But the key to me is finding designs that mean something (and say something) about you. As a rule I dislike small, cute tattoos, as they seem to be more about fashion statements than personal statements - though I'm not claiming a universal truth, just an observation.

While the whole Chinese Symbol might at first glance seem to be one of those fashion statements (I ain't exactly of Chinese origin, and every rap artist and basketball player of a few years ago seemed to have one) I still feel a bond to it for what it means to me - a statement that I am, and always have been (to borrow Spike's vernacular), Love's Bitch.

Other than that, I guess I'd say I find tattoos (especially striking, eye-catching ones) incredibly sexy, on either gender. A celtic arm band here, a dragon there, or something slightly different - if done well (and displayed well) they can only enhance someones appearance. As for the old thing, I'll be more worried about my skin generally losing elasticity, getting wrinkly, and go that horrible freckly (dis)colour, than about what my tattoo will look like then.
