Any bets on Michael's next film being about Disney...
Disney vs Michael Moore
Seems like the land of free speech is no more, and corporations just want money and the opinions to be hidden.
"Mr. Moore's agent, Ari Emanuel, said Michael D. Eisner, Disney's chief executive, asked him last spring to pull out of the deal with Miramax. Mr. Emanuel said Mr. Eisner expressed particular concern that it would endanger tax breaks Disney receives for its theme park, hotels and other ventures in Florida, where Mr. Bush's brother, Jeb, is governor."
Can anyone say their not surprised about this attitude?

Hey! Come on! It's Disney, the nice child friendly company with the cute cartoon characters.........that sued and won against a california kindergarten, when they painted a mural with disney characters on one of their walls.....
This, from the company who gave us a film about a talking testicle
That's a parody site, right Host? It's got to be, hasn't it? Either way, LMFAO!!
Its funny why didn't Michael Moore realise that Dealing with Disney is like deaing with the devil.
To be honest I dont care, I really dislike Moore and his films anyway.

I don't see the problem, Disney aren't trying to ban the film, they just don't want to distribute it - something they had no intention of doing anyway.
Dont get me wrong I agree with the subject of this film and some of the other subjects hes worked on.

Ooooh, do tell.
I personally dont like the guy I find him arrogant, self important, and overrated, scenes in his docufilms seem very staged and I can get the information from other outlets.
Hey if we all liked the the same things it would be pretty rubbish out there.
Nah, I broadly agree, Michael Moore's far too satisfied with Michael Moore for my liking. But he's a pamphleteer of the old school; an ego the size of the Hudson must be a job requirement to pull half the stuff he does. Not someone I'd want to share a pint with, but wouldn't want him to stop doing what he's doing.

Obviosly he has the freedom to make his films and I wouldnt want to take that away from him, Disney are letting him take it elsewhere for distribution so I dont see the problem.

I just find it very naive of him getting involved with a Disney subsidury given that I cant see them being on the same side of the political spectrum .
Yes, Disney are not banning the film (they don't have that capacity), but did you read their reasons? Am I (and AJ) the only ones a little worried that the tax regime of the most powerful nation - the self-proclaimed bastion of freedom – is dependent on whether organizations release slightly left of centre films? Doesn't this seem just a little sleazy?
This isn't an organization refusing to release a film because it is preaching bigotry or hate, but because it asks awkward questions of a morally bankrupt elite. And their answer? To scupper the release by whispering threats of tax hikes to the owner of the distributor... It's not just Disney who comes out looking bad out of this, but the whole Republican Oligarchy.
And yes, I am a fan of Mr Moore. I don't find him arrogant at all, and I particularly like the fact he is not as easily compartmentable as some would like to make him. Unlike his UK equivalent, Mark Thomas, he doesn't fit neatly into the far-left category. This is a card-carrying member of the NRA, who doesn't take the line in Bowling that many would expect. In fact, I would suggest that the lack of answers, and the proliferation of questions his work creates is evidence that this is not the work of a man with a ridiculous ego, but of a man prepared to say 'I don't know the answer, but shouldn't we be looking at this?'

i seen only a couple of things of Michael Moore's and found myself glued to the screen i'd like to see more and read his books but i either cant find them or dont have the time but i seen a lot more of Mark Thomas and think he's fab
Don't get me wrong, I love Mark Thomas' work, I just thing he fits the archetypal lefty far more than Moore does.
oh i wasnt saying anything against what you said i was just putting out there what i thought on them.
Surprised nobody has mentioned yesterday's Independent yet. Apparently Moore knew last year that Miramax wouldn't distribute the film, and has stirred up a bit of controversy to help promote it. Slightly dubious behaviour if true, but he probably really wants to hurt Bush's election prospects, and doesn't care about how he gets the word out...
aye i heard that n all..personally i dont like michael moore. he's just as bad as everybody else
