Okay - it just did it again in that post - unless I'm the only one seeing it! lol
Techie help needed!
Ok, this one isn't as stoopid as "plug another controller in to access multiplayer" ) but my PC is being annoying.
For no reason whatsoever it's decided to start highlighting random words in other people's journals and is asking me if I want further information on "movies" or "cars" or whatever
I'm also getting popup ads on T21 (unless that one's not just me).
Will someone please wave their magic wand (don't be dirty) and make my PC behave itself?

Like I said on the journal I think it's something you downloaded and it's easily removable but I can't remember how.......
It's not Messenger Service popups is it?

The uni network here's plagued with the damn things. You can get 2 or 3 popping up (on average) every time you bring up a new browser window, and in some cases about 20-30 appear and crash the computer. Oh, and some cause 2-3 more to appear when you close them down. Boy, do I love Task Manager!
I seem to have a gremlin in my computer too. The internet connection is decidedly dodgy, despite being on broadband and having it confirmed that I'm hooked up to the right thing (don't ask me for the jargon - I'm not a tech-head).
The messages I get say things like 'there is no reply from the remote computer', and the only way I've found round it is to run Norton LiveUpdate. Somehow that manages to make a connection to the updates, and I can sneak through and get access then. It's all very strange. And annoying!
I get the feeling that artificial intelligence has arrived - and it's sadistic!

Fortunately I've got it sorted now 'cos I'm clever... okay, everyone knows that's a total lie I got my brother to sort it out for me.

Actually, it's plain old human stupidity of the designers at Microsoft

I agree that Adaware and Spybot will do the job.
Alternatively, if you just want to check your PC for spyware and other assorted nastiness, you can go Here and run a scan of your machine online.
