I suspected I would have a similar problem when, after a business trip to Glasgow, I was left with a Scottish tenner in my wallet.

I went to my local Tesco to get a few bits and decided to pay for at the customer services desk. I asked if they would have a problem and was told "We don't care. As long as it's legal tender, we'll take it".
