I'm guessing someones been watching 'I Robot'
Converse Hi Tops
Converse "All Star" Hi tops are probably the first ever trainers made.
First made in the 1920's & still in production today (no longer manufactured un the USA unfortunatly).
What is it about them that has made them such long stayers? Why do they still crop up in Sci-Fi books & films & TV series or even current adverts?
Why have they survived over more fashionable designs or brands?
Can anyone else comment?

I dunno what it is about them... they're just so damn cool!
I'll be very interested to see how this thread develops as I have a friend who appears to be collecting the things. Her Converse collection might put Imelda Marcos to shame!
Heh, just watched partt of "I robot" That's a lot more blatant than I was talking about really.

So, what is it about them that makes you want to get multiple pairs?

I only have 3 pairs: plain blue, plain pink and black with blue flames. I did have to really, really, really try hard to persuade myself that I didn't need a leopard print pair though (I went into the shop about 3 times within an hour to look at them). And I'll also probably get a plain black pair at some point.
Well, that was a silly thing to persuade yourself to do, wasn't it? Of course you need the leopard print ones, your feet will shrivel and die otherwise...

I've also got my eye on the blue flames, i didn't want them in hi tops though but after searching round in shops and online that's all i can find.
I've got a pair of all black hi tops and black with a yellow lip. Then i've got a plain black pair of low tops
Gotta say I'm not really a fan either *shrug* Sure PoF will now try and convert me

Am i the only person on T21 that thinks Converse Hi Tops are *really* ugly?
i dont like high tops.... low cut are better...i remember when i was a wee bairn and i used to wear them for p.e. lol...odd how now they're dead 'fashionable'
I've always hated Converse To me they're an example of being able to sell crap because of a name.
But that's just me
