Was watching the lunch time news and ITV reported that he had been killed. Apparently there have been several reports before and yesterday there were reports that he had been beheaded. Hoping its not true for the sake of his family

There are no words for how I'm feeling right now.

Sad perhaps, but not a surprise in any sense of the word. I think his death, and perhaps his decapitation were almost a foregone conclusion from the moment he was taken prisoner. It was just a matter of time.
Unfortunately, many more lives are going to be lost in this manner and there is nothing the authorities can do about it. The man power doesn't exist to properly secure everyone working in Iraq from this type of attack.
To call them monsters or animals is an insult to monsters and animals... my deepest condolences go to his family right now, i can't begin to imagine what they're going through or how they're feeling right now... his poor mum

I agree with Maff. A tragic situation which was always on the cards. Zalkalwe was never going to let him go, but just use the poor man as a political pawn against the West.
I've been to Walton a few times. It's going to be a very difficult time for Bigley's family and the community for a long while.

I'm in agreement in terms of I never really thought that they were going to let him go, and in a way its a relief that the family finally have a resolution to the whole thing, not matter how horrendous.
I think what gets me the most about it though, is the method in which they killed him and the fact that they felt the need to make a video of it. Some people just don't gve a damn, and that's what riles me the most.
/end of rant.

Words can't begin to describe how angry I get when I think about how people could actually treat each other like this. Whatever place you're in, be it Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, Camp X-Ray or Abu-Grahib (sp?) or anywhere else for that matter, doing this to other people can, IMHO, never be justified.
What exactly did Ken Bigley's killers hope to achieve by, like all the others before and (very, very likely, sadly) after them, by executing an innocent human being in cold blood and even going so far as to hold their severed head in the air for all their friends and loved ones to see?
All this will accomplish is increased hostility between those in power (mostly in the West) and those trying to be heard, regardless of how far they're willing to go to do so. By showing what I see as a blatant disregard for human life, these people are distancing themselves further and further from their goals, whatever they may be.
I was so saddened to hear of this when we came back from holiday.
Thoughts and prayers go to the family
