So... where's yours from?!?!?
nabbed from our user guide
"to do with a fair bit of time in the gym, copious amounts of body hair and some rather disgusting eating habits"

Trinity is actually nothing to do with the Matrix or religion...she originated as a character in a Huge Work of Fiction that RedWitch and I have been working on (OK, not for a while, but still...!), in which she is a vampire-angel crossbreed with serious attitude. I just liked the name!
Oh wg, don't even go there

as for me, I like cats and God damn, I wanna be fantastic!!!
Mine's rather obscure. It dates back to when I first started Uni and became separated from all my old school-friends. We started e-mailing each other for the first time (and also for most of us it was our first time to ever use e-mail so it was quite exciting!) My best friend at the time, a guy called Will, set up a hotmail account pictureofflowers@hotmail.com, and sent me a very bizarre message anonymously. Eventually I found out it was from him and I thought no more about it. Spin forward about 3 years and I'm joining BuffyUK and I need to think of a username and for some reason that just popped into my head. I thought it was cool, so I adopted it and have used it since!
Nope, it's not my actual name. It's the name of a mountain range in New Mexico. I had just been there when I first registered at the old site. Since I'm not particularly clever about stuff like picking screen names, I just chose it.
Not much of a story here either..
My name is Stuart, and I wanted something short and snappy, bored with all the usual Stu or worse Stewy etc, one of my friends decided to greet me one day by running at me yelling "Stooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" at the top of her voice, before squishing me with hugs (I'd not seen her in a few weeks).
I thought it was kinda cool, and it stuck, even my Mum and Dad call me Stoo in emails/sms etc
Result!

People who read 2000AD sci-fi comic in the '80s will recognise my name from "The Ballad of Halo Jones", an excellent Alan Moore story. I loved the story and identified with the title character, so chose halojones. I was too lazy to bother with the capital letters!
Clea is the name of the main character in one of my novels (unpublished and fairly certain to remain so!). I used the name in a chat room once as I couldn't think of anything else and have used it ever since. I pinched the name originally from a girl I was at college with - I just liked the name.

OK now that you have no excuse to roll your eyes I'll continue. My nick comes from a D+D character I used to play. We had an odd guy running our game and he decided we should be evil. My guy was a big hairy creature (An Alaghi if memory serves), who was a bouncer at one of a cities less reputable drinking establishments. He turned out to be one of the most enjoyable characters I have played.....
YOU MAY RESUME YOUR NORMAL LIVES NOW.........

For me, it was more that I identified with the story and fell in love with the title character...

I gather all three books of the Ballad have recently been / are about to be reprinted, with a new Ian Gibson cover - if any of you see a copy, it'd be worth your while to pick it up.
Random , I've actually got the original three volume set, so can't really justify buying the new one (although... ). I want the DR and Quinch collection but there's nowhere round here where I can buy it
my name on Buffyuk used to be Xander Harris (i was one of the top posters back in those days you know)
and then one day on the chatroom i changed my name to Xander-Inawig as a disguise of some sort, i can't remember quite why.
then the wig part just became a part of name... and i was Xander-Inawig a lot more. and then i just became wiggy
'nuff said

Oh and while I'm here, Once Upon a BuffyUK...
Red's my colour; dyed my hair (must re-do it), most of my clothes that ain't black are, and when I get stoopidly rich I'm buying a Ducati Monster with a factory tuned 996 engine and red racing leathers (already got the red lid).
But plain 'Red' wasn't enough for me (sorry honey), I wanted something vaguely 'Buffy' related, so: Witch. (This was before Willow got with the witchiness.)
And I'm RedWitch at any posting board I've signed into, except the Motorcycle News board, where I'm redzed.
So there you go...

Same here... but, well, temptation and all that...

Well, mine was very much a spur of the moment thing...I like Tony Head (great guy!) and wanted a username that incorporated that in some way.
head2head was the first thing that my mate came up with and I've kind of stuck with it
Not really that interesting a story.

My user name came from a chat we had a long time ago.
Morph was telling everyone (co-incidentally) how his name was nothing to do with Tony Hart and little plasticine men, and more to do with the "Sandman" graphic novels he has a big collection of.
He was saying the Morpheus is another name for Dream or Dreamer (I forget which) and that all the other siblings were also called names that all had the same initial letter, d.
For some reason mst people that was in the room changed their nick to names beginning with d too. When we had exhasuted the family names from the novels, (Despair Death Desire etc) we went on to more stupid things like Duchess, Dunce and Drippy!
Does anyone else here remember that? I know at least some of you are posters here too!
I think the next time I logged in to the chat room I hadn't bothered to reset it and it kind of stuck.
