As long as the body isn't wearing a nappy, I don't see any problem...

My company did the post production on this series so I have seen a bit of it already (in fact we're editing the omnibus edition tomorrow). Once you get over the initial 'Eek, it's a dead body!' thing, this programme is actually extremely interesting and not sensationalised at all. I'd go as far as saying that it should be required viewing for anyone with the slightest interest in how their body works.

My BF had to dissect loads of bodies when he was an undergraduate - I don't see why it needs to be so mystified that it's "horrific" to show it on the telly. And people can always reach for the Off button, there's always a choice...

Sounds interesting.

Lots of society's attitudes to images of death are odd. Showing an educational autopsy of a man who's given his explicit consent is frowned on, but the government hijacking a demeaning image of a young student dead from a heroin overdose for their drugs propoganda is considered okay.

Not to mention the convention of showing dead johnny foreigner in a way unimaginable for Brits.

I think it's a good idea. I've seen/done it myself at uni as a med student and i think it's helped with issues of death and stuff and i think it could help people with issues of blood and guts and gore too.

In wierd kind of way anyway...

Personally I think it's a great idea.

It's one of those things that you wouldn't normally get to witness, unless it was your line of work. Even more so if it's a subject that interests you, it's kind of like a once in a life time opportunity. Tho I'm sure if it proves sucessful they'll make a series out of it or something.

At the end of the day, you have a choice. If it interests you and you can stomach it - watch it. If it doesn't and you're squimish - don't. No one is forcing you to watch it.

No doubt there's been a up-roar about it somewhere, but people need to realise there are more pressing issues out there than if they are cutting up (a consenting) man on TV.

Except when they show it too you on the advert. Then you didnt have any warning. And you're eating your tea at the time.

I couldnt care less about what C4 shows thesedays because I rarely watch it - the channel has gone so far downhill. They will put on any crap designed to shock (they should have done the Opera thing then nobody would have to complain about wasted license fees). This may be great and educational but that won't be why they picked it. Plus that German guy is weird.

I won't be watching 'cos I'm too squeamish. I have watched a real life autopsy when I was doing my nursing 'tho. I must have got more squeamish as I've got older.

I have to say, having watched dissection videos and having done dissection, the video was nothing like doing it yourself! On the video you see how it's supposed to look, all neat and very clear, but once you get in there yourself it's not neat and clear, especially if you have a fat person What it will show you though is that a preserved body for dissection is nothing like a body there for autopsy or someone in for surgery cos of all the fixatives and the fact that there's absolutely no blood as they've been drained.

Hope i didn't put anyone off there meals

i think its going to be really interesting, a few of my friends said they wn't be watching but not for any other reason than the fact they're a little too squeamish! im sure it'll get many complaints by people who thinks it wrong and immoral, but personally i second the opinion that its nothing to be frightened of, and it shouldn't be hidden and remain a mystery

I flicked the channel back and forth but I knew once I started to gag I couldn't go back, lol. Also I didn't like the nude male model with no pubes.....

After watching the brain getting sliced I'm never eating deli ham again *vomit* Infact I might become vegetarian
