I do Mother's Day, and I'll do Father's Day. I wouldn't do Granparent's Days even if I had any left alive. Because that is just another creation by the card companies to make money.
I accept Father's Day was created in the same vein, but I don't se any harm in showing your parents some appreciation for bringing you up if you still get on with them. At least Mothering Sunday has a tradition that goes some way back though, before the likes of Hallmark got their hands on it.
Okay, I guess if you are involved/married with/to someone Valentines Day is a nice day. But what I object to is how the card companies have hijacked the day and made it tacky (But I suppose the same could be same of Christmas). It just seems bizarre that people end up spending as much, if not more, on presents for Valentines as they do for someone at Christmas or their birthday!
I just think you have to draw the line under and say enough of all these different 'days' that are created. Otherwise you'll end up like The Simpsons with a Love Day
