Educational and yummy!

The change will affect me for and entirely non-sweetie related reason (not that I still don't enjoy my smarties!)
A few years back my brother went on a "do things for charity" kick and he ran London Marathons, Great North Runs, threw hemself out of perfectly serviceable aircraft and such like. With this came an almost constant pestering for sponsorship money. One of the organisations he was raising money for came up with an ingenious idea which resulted in him distributing tubes of smarties to his family & friends. Once empited of their contents a smarties tube is the perfect container for 20 pence pieces.
A full tube = £14!
It was any easy way to put by a few bob for these endeavours and it's a habit which I have kept up to this day. Friends ask for sponsorship, I produce a smarties tube, hand it to them and sit back to enjoy the rather bemused look on their face until they realise what's inside
The past couple of years he's suffered ill health and as a result has had to put these kinds of adventures on the back-burner (he's got a cycle ride across Cambodia amongst other things planned once he returns to full health). But I've continued to use the "smartie method" so that when he does get the green light I can oblige his inevitable request for dosh.
With the demise of the tube, I'll have to think of something else.

The kids have done collecting coins in Smartie tubes at school and nursery. Wonder if it would still work with the new shaped tubes? Maybe they might be slightly bigger.....
Hey, you see the Hoseasons advert at the top of that page?
That's mine that is
That's mine that is
It' the little things in life which please you isn't it Although i got an "Ask Jeeves" advert, not Hoseasons...

And as for the Smarties new doofer... why? What was wrong with the tube? One of my friends commented on the fact that you won't be able to fire the little plastic lid off it anymore when you hit it So in honour of this, she and another friend spent some time doing this with the current one as they won't be able to do it soon
They are wierd. (Both my friends and the new-look tube )
Nooooooooooo!!!
That is all.
That is all.
It smacks to me of money, not of being modern. I could be wrong but the new tubes look cheaper to make, all thin cardboard, no plastic lid. "The shape that mums and kids loved"? Yeah, right!
And they don't look anywhere near as good as the old ones. Shooting the lids at each other was one of the best bits about having Smarties!
Hey-ho...
Teresa - Which letters is Sam missing? I'll save any I get for him.
